Uncle Julio's fajitas are well known around the Dallas area and beyond. Maybe it's the mesquite flavor of the meat, grilled to perfection over an open flame. Or perhaps it's the homemade tortillas, or the fresh pico de gallo, velvety sour cream and flavorful frijoles a la charra (charro beans, for those north of the border folks.) Get the traditional chicken or beef, or go a little herbivoracious for their Vegetable Fajitas Especial, served with roasted potatoes, onions, red and poblano peppers, mesquite grilled yellow squash, zucchini and Portobello mushroom. Still not satisfied? The succulent shrimp fajitas should tide you over.

Family owned and operated by three brothers, Desperado's has been a Dallas staple for 35 years. Their Wednesday night $2 margarita special garners half the population of the area, and their famous "La Margarita" is hands down the freshest and tastiest marg this side of the Rio Grande. Their heaping fajitas are quite excellent as well, served with succulent, juicy steak, grilled shrimp or savory chicken, along with their bean soup and all the fixens. I would be doing an injustice if I didn't also mention the Desperado tacos, however: deep fried flour tortillas with gooey melted jack cheese and fajita beef or chicken. The most ordered entree since their opening!

If the word fajita is in the moniker, you better hope they're worth the trip. Luckily, Pete's is definitely worth its salt-rimmed margarita. A Houston transplant, Fajita Pete's features distinctively tender fajitas, marinated in a unique freshly squeezed lime and pineapple based recipe, laid over sautéed onions and covered with strips of poblanos topped with a grilled jalapeno pepper. It's enough to make you a certified fajita addict - luckily, they deliver.
