Save the Date: Jane Fonda and Gabby Sidibe Host the Power of the Arts
by HauteLiving

Whether you are a movie buff, a lover of the arts, a huge Jane Fonda fan or just plain curious, Sunday’s rare film screening and discussion is an experience you will kick yourself for missing.
Join Jane Fonda and Gabourey Sidibe Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the Woodruff Arts Center’s Rich Theater as they share Fonda’s intimate documentary Jane and discuss the personal triumphs that the art’s have made possible for them. Filmed in 1962, the 53-minute documentary, Jane, chronicles the life of a 25 year-old Jane Fonda as she prepared for the ill-fated Broadway debut of “The Fun Couple.” This intimate depiction of life behind the curtain is a far cry from today’s pseudo-reality shows and exposes the ups, downs, disappointments and disenchantments Fonda faced during production. Jane shows us a Jane Fonda that few of us have seen throughout her long career, in her own words “it’s about a girl with no voice who let herself be bullied.” Following the screening of this intensely raw documentary, which is the second public screening of the documentary ever, Susan Booth, artistic director of the Alliance Theater, will lead a discussion with Fonda and Precious star, Gabourey Sidibe, on the personal triumphs made possible by involvement in the arts. Both stars will talk in-depth about the obstacles they’ve faced and the perseverance they have needed to find success.
Tickets for The Power of the Arts are $50 and $125, including a VIP reception, and will benefit the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, G-CAPP, an organization committed to enriching the lives of adolescents by helping them to rise above the statistics to reach a healthy and productive future. To purchase tickets go to gcapp.org/power-arts.
