BOMB Magazine marks its 30th Anniversary this year with a slew of events: Recently, the magazine hosted an Armory Art Fair party at the Marlborough Gallery, which featured various performance and interactive art collaborations. As the spring gala season continues full steam ahead, the creative publication (focusing on the work of artists, writers, actors, musicians, and directors) is hosting a posh benefit gala, including dinner and a silent auction of important contemporary artworks on Friday, April 15, 2011.

The occasion will take place at the lavish Capitale, (130 Bowery at Grand Street) in New York City. Prominent art world players will be honored this year including performance artist Marina Abramović, novelist and essayist Francine Prose, and Richard Armstrong, director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Before receiving special “Pink Bomb” awards created by sculptor Tom Otterness, toasts to the honorees will be made by decorated luminaries and intellects such as Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Michael Cunningham and critic Arthur C. Danto.

In addition to the awardees, the gala also has a notable host committee composed of contemporary culture bigwigs: trustee Chair, Klaus Kertess, honorary chair Amy Phelan, and co-chairs Robert Duffy, Mary and Sean Kelly, Michèle Gerber Klein, and Michael Ward Stout.

The silent auction will feature significant works and contributions by a massive assortment of renowned visual artists: Thordis Adalsteinsdottir, Michael Ballou, Valérie Belin, Huma Bhabha, Josh Blackwell, Sebastiaan Bremer, Emilie Clark, Verne Dawson, Steve DiBenedetto, Carroll Dunham, Rochelle Feinstein, Adam Fuss, Joe Fyfe, John Giorno, Katharina Grosse, David Herbert, George Herms, Arturo Herrera, Jene Highstein, Thomas Hirschhorn, Roni Horn, Judith Hudson, Jessica Jackson Hutchins, Richard Kalina, Deborah Kass, An-My Lê, Ati Maier, Robert Mangold, Howie Michels, Curtis Mitchell, Shirin Neshat, John O’Connor, Tom Otterness, JJ PEET, Adam Pendleton, Judy Pfaff, Jorge Queiroz, Jimmy Raskin, Clifford Ross, Mika Rottenberg, Cordy Ryman, Sebástian Silva, Elizabeth Streb, Fred Tomaselli, Brian Ulrich, Carrie Mae Weems, Lawrence Weiner, James Welling, Stanley Whitney, Jack Whitten, and Joe Zucker.

Art up for bid at the auction can be viewed online, with estimates ranging from $1,000 – $18,000. Individual tickets for the gala and auction start at $1,000 and tables are from $10,000- $25,000.
