Just in time for boating season, Italian-based shipbuilder CRN and member of Ferreti Group, announced the addition of two leisure superyachts, the 141-foot M/Y CRN Navetta and the 196-foot M/Y CRN. CRN holds a place at the top of the list of the world’s leading manufacturers in uber-pleasure yachts.
Debuting as ‘Lady Trudy’, the M/Y CRN Navetta 43 is the seventh hull belonging to the exquisite Navette 43 line. The yachy has a capacity of ten passengers and nine crew members and claims a maximum speed of 15.5 knots with a cruising speed of 13 knots, propelled by two CATERPILLAR C32-C engines.
The spectacular yacht is equipped with four decks, a helicopter landing pad, and a master suite which opens out to a spacious balcony. The calming Hampton-inspired furnishings on the interior give the ship the feel of navigable home. An integrated smart-technology entertainment system – the ‘myOlos’ – is installed so the desired audio volume, lighting, and room temperature can be controlled with the click of a button, allowing you and your guests to enjoy the seas in paramount luxury.
Commissioned by a European ship owner, the lean streamlined profile and cream-colored hull poetically characterizes the M/Y CRN 130 constructed of steel and aluminum. Powered by two CATERPILLAR 3512B-Chp 1’455 kW@1835 rpm engines, the yacht has a maximum speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots. While the capacious and striking form emphasizes the signature of Zuccon International Project Studio, the interior, designed by Alexandre and Cristina Negoes, seamlessly exemplifies a sophisticated art deco style. This larger vessel can accommodate 12 guests and 14 crew members.
The Zuccon International Project designers in collaboration with CRN paid homage to the sleek circular design which prevails in the interior spaces, providing fluidity and maximizing spatial relation. Its understated décor, monochromatic interiors and flowing forms, create a new contemporary habitat of extreme pleasure.
Up until now, Jewelry designer/sustainable practitioner Todd Reed has stuck to icing some pretty famous fingers, including those of Mrs. Obama. But, from May 6 through May 7, thanks to Abbot Kinney’s intimate Altered Space Gallery, anyone can try on (and purchase) the Colorado-based artist’s innovative treasures with their own two hands at an upcoming trunkshow.
Known for using only “bloodless” diamonds discovered in North American mines, Reed excels in producing unmatched creations by using both vintage rose cut and trademark raw stones. With the development of five lines—signature, vintage, modern, bridal, and men’s—over a span of two decades, the environmentally sound designer has cultivated a niche of his own; one of understated elegance as opposed to elaborate glitz.
In addition to trying on his menagerie of rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and cufflinks, guests can call ahead and arrange for a private expert consultation with Reed’s head goldsmith, Kim Carpenter.
RSVP and/or book an appointment by calling 310.452.8121 or sending an email to AlteredSpaceGallery@gmail.com.
Altered Space Gallery is located at 1221 Abbot Kinney Blvd.

Listed in The National Register of Historic Places and dating back to 1652, this house was originally built as a residence for the affluent Hedges family. In the latter part of the 1800s, the Hedges opened its door to guests, reinventing itself as a lodging inn, with 12 guest rooms complimented by beautifully decorated common areas.
Today, while the setting is reminiscent of grand times past, a fully restored version of the original invites guests to stay, offering the very same opulence and splendor, but now with all the modern conveniences and flair added on, making for a perfect upscale hideaway. This all translates to a May/December marriage of sorts, whereby contemporary accoutrements partners with classical charm.
No scrimping on fine touches here as evidenced by the richly styled metal sage and sand fabrics and décor, and the optimum use of natural lighting, all creating an airy yet cozy ambience. Each room is different but all filled with vintage antiques, mirrors and artwork. High end amenities like Bulgari toiletries; a private bath in each room, flat screen TVs, luxurious bedding and more complete the package. Turn down service at night includes a sampling of Godiva chocolates left atop your pillow as if a sweet tooth fairy stopped by in your absence.
The exterior continues the interior seamlessly in that the property sits on two acres of magnificently landscaped gardens, shaded by a row of elm trees and across the street from a serene pond where swans gently glide. Relaxed seating can be enjoyed throughout on elegant wicker and rattan furniture under an expansive patio awning, comfortable couches in the den or on the front porch’s rocking chairs within view of the pond.
Go ahead.
Find a quiet seat outside the property on an Indian summer day, cuddle up with a good book and enjoy the quiet indulgence of doing absolutely nothing much.
Wake up with an appetite? Guests here may enjoy breakfast in an informal, country-style dining room where French doors open onto a spacious patio replete with a stunning garden-view. Later in the day, a cocktail can be had from their fully stored bar.
Bonus: Mega convenience. Walk east along to the chic shopping, gallery, dining and theater district. Walk south and pass magnificent mansions and breathtaking landscapes en route to East Hampton’s Main Beach, rated one of the America’s top ten beaches year after year. Grab a complimentary beach towel, a lounge chairs, and sun umbrella and go.

According to zillow.com, country music superstar and America’s sweetheart Taylor Swift has purchased a home in Beverly Hills for $3.97 million. Although the award-winning singer has always considered Nashville her home–her previous $1.99 million home was there, as well as a luxury estate she recently purchased for her parents–the 22 year old has been spending much of her time in California.
Like something you would expect to see in a storybook or one of her videos, Swift’s new 2,826-square-foot home was built in 1941 and is a Cape Cod style mansion, instead of Beverly Hills’ typical Spanish style homes. Situated on a private, gated 1.37-acre lot, the home is much like Swift herself – charming, romantic, bright, full of warmth and light, and stunningly gorgeous.
The estate is the ultimate retreat, just outside the heart of Beverly Hills and located at the end of a long pea gravel driveway. The New England-style home has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, and an office on the ground floor. The master bed and bath are also on the main floor, complete with dual baths and walk-in closets, and two guest bedrooms sit on the second floor.
The formal living room and dining room both boast fireplaces and French doors that let gorgeous natural light pour in and open throughout the home to a covered outdoor patio with an outdoor fireplace. In addition to the main house, the well-manicured grounds also house a 1-bedroom, 1-bath guesthouse with a full kitchen and living room, as well as a tennis court.

Please respect this entry for “perfect Sunday drive companions”… because the selection seems quite literal (blue for blue); you may not know that I’ve really thought this one out. The blue Lotus Elise, driven by my mythological character Lonesome Blue, who’s wearing a blue Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean on the way for a late Sunday dip in the ocean. I think I’m going to find a ghostwriter and pitch this to someone in Hollywood…

David Tepper is on the verge of demonstrating the American ideal that “bigger is better.” According to brokers familiar with the deal as reported by The Wall Street Journal and Curbed Hamptons, the hedge-funder, who also made Haute Living’s Haute 100 list this year, is set to close a notable deal on the priciest house sold in the Hamptons this year. The deal was made sans a broker by Tepper and Joanne Corzine, the ex-wife of Jon Corzine – the former governor and senator of New Jersey and former Goldman Sachs CEO.
Tepper is not only going to buy the 6,200-square-foot Sagaponack oceanfront mansion, he’s going to tear it down. Why, you ask?…to build a bigger home of course.
The home as it stands, which was recently available for rent at $900,000 from Memorial Day to Labor Day, boasts 6 bedrooms, 5 full baths, an expansive living room with fireplace and breathtaking ocean views, a formal dining room, a gym, a heated pool, and tennis courts, according to Sotheby’s.
Plans for the larger replacement claim it will span 11,268 square feet, bear a cedar-shingled roof on a two-story Georgian Colonial-style house. The plan also features a sunken tennis court, three-car garage, a widow’s walk, second-floor decks including one with a Jacuzzi, and a covered porch.
As Gucci fast approaches their 90th anniversary this summer, the world has eagerly waited to see how one of fashion’s biggest names would celebrate. Well, wait no more; for this year’s anniversary, Gucci will be hitting the road to display some if their most valuable pieces in a revered Kyoto temple.
The famous Golden Temple in Kyoto will house extraordinarily rare and unique pieces from Gucci’s archive from June 25 through July 13. Gucci CEO Patrizio di Marco is expected to host the opening of the event with a cocktail function to be followed by an exclusive dinner for celebrities, VIPS, and members of the art community on June 24.
So why did this venerated Italian name choose Japan? The fashion house has said that they are striving to “connect its birthplace, Florence, with its sister city Kyoto through a common tradition of artisanal craftsmanship, a cultural treasure shared by both Italy and Japan.” The event has been generating anticipation and is significant of Japan’s rebound after last month’s devastations that occurred there.
For the highly anticipated event, Gucci has collaborated with Hiroshi Senju, a Japanese painter and Kyoto University of Art and Design president who will be curating two of Gucci’s exhibitions. In October, the exhibit will move to a gallery at the illustrious university to be on display in addition to artisanal works from Florence and Kyoto. In November, the complete exhibition will then be transferred to the Gucci Ginza flagship in Tokyo.

Arizona Theatre Company presents Charles Ludlam’s hilarious quick-change horror spoof “The Mystery of Irma Vep” as the grand finale of its 2010-2011 season. The play features outrageous sets and costumes, plus vampires, werewolves, mummies and other things that go bump in the night. Boo!
Back by popular demand, this comedy is once again directed by ATC Artistic Director David Ira Goldstein and stars company veterans Bob Sorenson and Oliver Wadsworth as two lightning-fast actors who portray all the residents of Mandacrest (that’s right, all, as in, more than just two!) — as well as a host of vampires, werewolves, mummies and other nighttime creepers.
The dynamic duo travel from the moors of England to the tombs of Egypt and back again, with a number of Gothic plot twists and turns thrown in along the way. The result is a ridiculous and riotous performance that enthralls audience members, the old and young alike. In fact, “The Mystery of Irma Vep” has been the most requested show by ATC audiences.
The play runs in Phoenix May 5-29, 2011, at the Herberger Theater Center, and tickets start at $30, depending on the date and time of the performance. You can purchase tickets by visiting arizonatheatre.org or by calling the box office at 520.622.2823
Media sponsors for the 2010-2011 season are KEZ 99.9 and Phoenix magazine. The opening night sponsor is Lewis and Roca LLP. Arizona Theatre Company’s season sponsors are I. Michael and Beth Kasser.
Herberger Theater Center is located at 222 E. Monroe St. in Phoenix
