Hautels: Galaxy Macau Names Jeannie Cho Lee Master of Wine
Asia’s only Master of Wine Jeannie Cho Lee has been appointed Master of Wine at the Galaxy Macau resort, a mega luxury property featuring 56 different food and beverage outlets that will open its doors on May 15.
Cho Lee is the author of “Asian Palate,” which examines the increasingly prominent role of wine on dinner tables in Asia, and recommends wine pairings with Asian food. She became a Master of Wine (MW) in 2008 and in her new role, she will oversee the development of the resort’s wine list, tasting dinners, seminars and other special events.
Cho Lee says: “There will be a strong focus on listing wines made in Asia, with over 20 selections. There will also be a comprehensive Burgundy and Pinot Noir selection since this variety and style pairs extremely well with many Asian cuisines.”
She adds: “I’ll be establishing strong relationships with wineries from around the world to source wines direct from the cellars. These wines will have pristine provenance and be in great condition and form since they haven’t been moved from their birthplace.”
For VIP guests to the property, as well as serious wine connoisseurs, Galaxy Macau will offer a special Collectibles list comprising mainly blue-chip Bordeaux from top vintages as well as boutique Californian, Australian, Spanish and Italian wines.
Galaxy Macau is an integrated resort featuring accommodation from the Banyan Tree, Okura, and Galaxy Hotel and is set to give the Venetian Macao, the world’s largest casino, a run for its money.
