All hail the Queen! Across the pond, even she’ll be celebrating the Royal Wedding come April 29th, but here on our shores, Von Hemert will be hosting an event to celebrate Brittania and everything English. On Thursday, April 28th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at its Costa Mesa gallery, you’ll be able to celebrate the union of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, so get your Union Jack ready.
“We are thrilled to host a Royal Wedding event and celebrate these historic nuptials,” said Carrie von Hemert, vice president of the company. “Not only are we proud of our family’s own European heritage, but we join many Americans who share in the joy of the royal family’s special day.”
To celebrate the wedding, the festive evening will celebrate with British-inspired décor and furnishings, as well as informal modeling with fashions from Costa Mesa-based celebrity designer Oday Shakar — known for his glam evening gowns — and estate jewelry from Mona Lee Nesseth Estate & Custom Jewelry with DeYoung Collection.
Throughout the sales floor, displays will feature special merchandise such as crowns and napkin rings encrusted with Swarovski crystals and tables adorned with Versace china. There will even be a replica of the royal wedding cake for guests to admire while they browse the store’s collection (remember, they carry Althorp Living History, reproductions of pieces that Princess Diana and her Brother Earl grew up with at their estate).
The night will also include a special appearance by Emily Evans Eerdmans, a renowned design historian and contributing editor to House Beautiful. She’ll speak about British design and antiques at 6:30 p.m., and sign her books, Classic English Design and Antiques, Regency Redux and The World of Madeleine Castaing. In addition, there will be hors d’oeuvres by Bluewater Grill and Seafood, cocktails, and a soundtrack of British classic rock and pop. Out front, a Union Jack Mini-Cooper and vintage Rolls Royce will be on display and guests will have the chance to win a special clutch designed by Joanna Lhuillier. Throughout the night, 5% of the sales from the event will go to the American Red Cross Japanese Disaster Relief Fund.
Space for the event is limited and RSVPs are required.
