Haute Event: Tour de Force II at the SCFTA

In 2009, the Segerstrom Center for the Arts (then it was still known as the Orange County Performing Arts Center) blew away fans of dance with Tour de Force, a celebration of innovation and the fusion of tradition and forward-thinking choreography. They’re set to do it again Thursday, April 28th, when they’ll bring Tour de Force II, a celebration of the artistry, talent and creativity of dance today.

After the success of Tour de Force, the center brought together some of the world’s best for the sequel. Not only dancers like Katya Markowskaja, Heather Ogden and Tiler Peck, but also some of the most forward-thinking choreographers, too. Boris Eifman, George Balanchine, Roland Petite and more are debuting performances and more at this celebration of dance. The Rossini Pas de Deux by Leonid Jacobson, and The Picture Of… and Creature by Patrick de Bana will have their American debuts and will be performed by superstars of the world’s most celebrated companies, like the American Ballet Theater, the Foresythe Company and more.

Not only will there be spectacular debuts, the show will have great performances of some favorites, like excerpts from Don Quixote, Slingerland and Tarantella by some of the world’s most renowned dancers. There will truly be something for everyone, from classic dances to more modern spins on old favorites. If the acclaim and awe of the first Tour de Force is any indicator of how the second will perform, you should be prepared to be blown away.

The Segerstrom Center for the Arts is located at 600 Town Center Dr., in Costa Mesa. For more information on the show or to purchase tickets to Tour de Force II, call 714.556.2787 or visit the center’s official web site at www.scfta.org.
