Haute Event: The Ninth Annual Galaxy Gala Went Off with a Big Bang
by Delilah Smith

On Saturday, March 26, The Miami Science Museum brought a whole new meaning to the words the “Big Bang Theory” as they put on their Ninth Annual Galaxy Gala in celebration of their upcoming $275 million waterfront museum project in Miami’s downtown district.

The stars were aligned on this night as science lovers and partygoers alike traveled to the museum for this extraordinary event. The night began with a gracious toast to the future of the museum, and to Dr. Phillip Frost and his wife Patricia, for their commitment of $35 million for Miami Science Museum’s new building at Museum Park, which will soon be entitled the “Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science.”

The educational portion of this event was phenomenally crafted, dazzling every age group. Multi-sensory previews were the magnificent focus of the event, especially with the ever-popular 600-gallon aquarium, offering a virtual underwater tour.

Guests were directed to silent auctions in style with interactive cocktail parties (all auctions were solar and lunar themed), and many were eager to get their hands on the fabulous prizes; others chose to dance under the planetarium door to the fantastic performances that lit up the stage with a star-studded flair. And, of course, let us not forget all of the animals that were on display!

But the fun did not stop when the Gala had finalized. The Big Bang After Party set off rays of entertainment with live performances by fusion bands, two DJs that were responsible for making sure everybody was having the time of their lives, and a full dessert bar for those who needed a satisfying remedy for their sweet tooth. Who knew science lovers could have so much fun?
