Haute Event: Snuggly Soiree Benefit at Getty Residence
by Daniela Rodriguez

The word charity is synonymous with the names of San Francisco philanthropists, Ann and Gordon Getty. The couple invited guests to their home last week for the Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund’s annual Snuggly Soiree, benefiting patients and their families at UCSF Children’s Hospital.

The Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund provides support by filling special needs that insurance companies and government funds cannot to help alleviate stress on patients and their families during critical hospitalization and long periods away from home.

Guests of all ages were invited to the Getty home, where the atrium was transformed into the dream of any child (or inner child). Filled with teddy bears, gourmet teddy bear cookie decorating, Xbox 360 Kinect gaming, photo booth activities, Riptide Arcade games and prizes, face painting, and organic child-friendly food, children were able to choose from an array of activities or delicious treats.

Even though the event was a children’s play land, adults were able to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while mingling with guests including Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Terrell Lynch, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Johnson, UCSF Medical Center CEO Mark Laret, and UCSF School of Medicine Dean Sam Hawgood.

A silent auction was held, where bidders dueled on exclusive packages including a GIANTS baseball package, a lunch party at Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry restaurant, and VIP access to a “Glee” live pre-party and concert.Sponsors of the event included Salesforce.com Foundation, Ravance Therapeutics, Pamala and Ted Deikel, Elizabeth Dollar and Moss Adams, Deborah and PetterMagowan, Medicis, Royal Motors, and Tiffany’s.
