Haute Event: Serge Sorokko Gallery Presents Isabelle de Borchgrave Art
by Daniela Rodriguez

On March 17, one of San Francisco’s most prominent art galleries celebrated the work of the renowned Belgian artist, Isabelle de Borchgrave in the company of some of the world’s most notable art collectors and social figures. The current exhibit, Pulp Fashion: The Art of Isabelle de Borchgrave, was the center of attention for the night, presented at the new Serge Sorokko Gallery in Union Square.

The Serge Sorokko Gallery was established in 1984, building a solid reputation on its fine collection of modern and contemporary art by internationally recognized artists. The gallery has fostered many emerging painters while also exposing collectors to established artists such as Damien Hirst, Sol LeWitt, and Andy Warhol, to name a few.

Present to host the artist were Tatiana and Serge Sorokko, Mayor Willie Brown, Consul General of Belgium, Dame Rita Bral, fashion designer Catherine Malandrino, who flew in from Paris, Maria Manetti Farrow, Suzy Dominik, Daniela Faggioli, Doreen and James Ho, Jerry and Nathalie McGuire and San Francisco’s most famous arts patron, Dede Wilsey. Guests were able to marvel at Isabelle’s work while sipping the world’s finest tequila, Casa Dragones. Bertha Gonzalez Nieves, CEO and co-founder of Casa Dragones tequila, was present to provide her expertise on the art of sipping tequila.

Serge Sorokko adds, “In my 30 years in the art world, there was nothing more difficult and exquisite than discovering an artist so glaringly original that when you see the work, it stops you dead in your tracks.  This is how I felt when I first saw Isabelle de Borchgrave’s art at the Museo Fortuny in Venice.  To have her exhibition at my gallery is a dream come true.”
