The Empire State Building has a history of lighting up in different colors as a statement for city-wide or world-wide events. Back in January, it shone green and white in honor of the Jets’ NFL playoff game against the New England Patiors. More recently, the skyscraper lit up in red and white as a tribute to the earthquake victims in Japan. And last night, the iconic building was illuminated in blue. The occasion? The 20 Year Reunion show of the Blue Man Group.

The 20 Year Reunion show was one of the group’s most highly anticipated events which brought together the group’s original group band members for the first time in 11 years, including Larry Heineman and Ian Pai, plus Everett Bradley, Chris Dyas, Dave Steele, Jeff Turlik, and Tracy Bonham Fine to the group’s original performance space at the Astor Place Theatre on Lafayette Street.

A handful of VIPs attended the exclusive event, which featured Sant Arturo Wines as the evening’s official beverage. Another highlight of the evening was the presence of Dave Matthews Band, who took the stage before the Blue Man Group to perform six songs alone. The band also joined Blue Man Group to collaborate on three songs during the show.

The concert was followed by an exclusive after party at the Bowery.
