Haute Event: Al Malnik Hosts Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida Garden Party

On Sunday, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida held its annual Garden Party which was hosted by Lifetime Benefactors Al & Nancy Malnik. The event took place at their oceanfront estate in honor of the upcoming 17th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball on November 5. More than 200 guests took part in the private soiree along with six “Friends With You” Wish Characters. It was also announced that afternoon that Burn Notice star Gabrielle Anwar was named the emcee for the famous live auction of the Ball.

Some of the guests included the president/CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida Norman Wedderburn, the Ball Chairman and proprietor of The Forge Restaurant | Winebar Shareef Malnik, and the Ball Host and General Manager of InterContinental Miami Robert Hill. Other attendees that were spotted included James Ferraro, FOX Channel 7 news anchor Belkys Nerey, award-winning interior designer Fernando Wong, and socialites Merle and Danny Weiss, Lady Monica Heftler. All sipped on cocktails and snacked on hors d’oeuvres as they took in the animated parade by Art Basel favorite “Friends With You.”

This year will mark the 28th anniversary of The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. It has raised around $9.6 million over the years and hopes to reach $10 million after this year’s Ball.
