Haute Dining: Steven Kamali Picks the Top Restaurants in Soho


Cipriani is a landmark restaurant destination all over the world known for the fine cuisine and hip atmosphere. The beautifully designed Cipriani Downtown is slightly less formal than the uptown location and is the perfect spot to sit outdoors on a warm day.

The newly opened David Burke Kitchen in the James Hotel of SoHo is the ideal place to enjoy modern American food, prepared by famous celebrity chef, David Burke. The “loft-like” main dining room and new Urban Garden makes David Burke Kitchen makes dining out a special experience.

Imperial No. 9 restaurant in the Mondrian Hotel is a sight to be seen.  The two main dining rooms and garden create a fairy tale atmosphere.  Sam Talbot, executive chef of the Surf Lodge and Top Chef contestant, creates sustainable seafood that are truly one of a kind dishes.

Niko is SoHo’s newest Japanese Restaurant, the intimate setting provides homey feeling.  The simple metallic art installations that frame the walls with dimly lit lights and soft music provides a warm comfort romantic level. Chef Hiro treats his dishes as an art form, Sushi rice is  cooked differently depending on the season and  balance of soy sauce and wasabi must be perfect. Niko really creates a special dining experience for each guest.
