Haute Event: Area 23 Galeria’s Pop-Up Exhibit at the Key Biscayne Yacht Club
by HauteLiving

Key Biscayne art lovers gathered at the Key Biscayne Yacht Club on Saturday, March 19 for a one a of a kind pop-up exhibition by one of Wynwood’s hottest galleries, Area 23 Galeria. The gallery itself is not new, but it recently over went an extensive overhaul as it was purchased by prominent art collector, Alberto Linero. The gallery’s aesthetic has changed dramatically and is due for a revisit as Linero’s mission is to showcase the area’s hautest young contemporary art. Four of the artists from the previous collection have remained in the showroom as their works match that of new gallery’s.

The pop-up exhibit at the social club was the first of an ongoing series by Linero to proliferate high contemporary art into the community of Key Biscayne. The event, which was specifically for the members of the club, hosted such guests as Peter and Joyce Kory, Betsy Oztemel and Edgar Nano Sanchez and attracted many of the club’s visitors for the night. The 15 colorful pieces on display featured art by Santiago Betancur, Rafael Espitia, Nelly del Rio, Leonardo Moleiro and Juliana Duque, which is the gallery’s lead artist. The majority of the pieces on exhibition were purchased at the event as the gallery’s sales team, Natalia Lugo and Andrea Villa were on hand to thoroughly guide guests through each piece of art.

The gallery’s website is still under construction, but to get  first hand feel for the newly revamped space, you can catch Alberto and the rest of the artists during this Saturday’s monthly Wynwood Art Walk from 7 to 10 p.m. or contact the gallery directly at 305.587.0172 to setup a private appointment.
