Spring Cleaning: Haute Ways to Spruce Yourself Up for Spring

The snow has finally melted and you can smell spring headed our way. In preparation of the most beautiful season in NYC, when the botanical gardens bloom and New Yorkers shed their down coats, it’s a good idea to do some spring cleaning… not just for your home, but for your self!

We have some great haute ideas for how you can get yourself in gear to debut your spring fashions with all-around fabulosity.

1. Do a Cleanse to De-Toxify Your Body

All winter long NY-ers are guilty of letting themselves go a bit, since we’re all covered up in chunky sweaters and puffy jackets anyway. To undo some of the damage from eating fried foods and drinking cocktails, a cleanse may be the best idea. We’ve heard of some of the crazy ones out of Hollywood, like Beyonce’s Master Cleanse during which she drank water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne for 20 days.

But if you aren’t ready to go with something quite so extreme, we recommend the Ritual Cleanse. The cleanse is made from 100% organic fruit and vegetable juice, and just set aside 3 days to do their “reset cleanse” for weight loss, better digestion, increased energy and more restful sleep. The company also recently added “Daily Juice” to their raw juice menu which is a real-food supplement  so you can make up for the fruits and veggies you didn’t eat all winter. Juices come in 11 flavors: Green Lemon, Sweet Greens, Green Ginger, Spicy Lemonade, Ginger Lemonade, Lavender Lemonade, Pineapple Mint, Carrot Ginger, Cashew Crunch, Almond Milk, and Red Energy.  An added bonus for this cleanse, the product is green. The bottles are 100% biodegradable and sent in reusable coolers made from 100 percent recyclable materials.

2. Hit the Gym and Get Your Beach Bod On

Since after spring comes summer, part of your spring cleaning should definitely involve getting yourself fit. Whether you loves your Boot Camp or yoga class, working out will not only help you tone up, but will also fire up your endorphins and make you feel better! To add a haute element to your workout, add some toning clothing. We like Fila’s Body Toning Collection which uses strategically placed and cut multi-layered panels which provide targeted muscle compression. The benefits? You get better blood circulation and oxygenation and also pumps up your workout by adding resistance to the exercise movements. (Plus, the support sculpts your body and makes you look one size smaller.)

If you are less about the effect and more about the look, Lacoste is our top pick for workout gear. Hey, it’s good enough for tennis pro Andy Roddick, so it’s good enough for us. Whether it’s their classic pique wrap tennis skirt or drawstring waist jumpsuit, Lacoste’s line of workout gear is engineered to be lightweight while also being haute for sure.

If you want to get really fancy, track your weight loss with a hi-tech scale. The Withings WiFi connected bathroom scale with web and iPhone compatibility is as luxurious as scales yet. It automatically records the stats on your body (body weight, lean & fat mass, and calculated body mass index) and transmits the data to your computer or iPhone. Also, the scale can recognize up to 8 users at a time.

3. Revive Your Skin and Relax Your Soul

The winter weather takes a toll on your skin, and as the warm temps return, it’s time to undo the damage from the cold, dry air. Where to turn? Well, the spa of course!

In NYC, there are upscale spas galore. Everyone has their own favorite, but the La Prairie Spa in the Ritz-Carlton is our pick. With products from one of the highest end skincare brands, the spa’s $410 facials are totally worth it. The Platinum Rare facial is our pick to do some spring cleaning on your skin. During the treatment, two La Prairie experts pamper your skin and make sure they go above and beyond to fully harness the age-defying benefits of their products.

If you don’t have time to head out to the spa, we love Olehenriksen’s line of skin care because you can bring the spa right into your home. Their Red Tea Body Scrub is indulgent and made with raw organic Paraguayan sugar, African red tea and vitamin C. It will renew and hydrate your skin. They also have a face scrub which refines the skin while polishing away impurities. It’s made of red tea, pomegranate seeds, pumpkin and honey. And their Feel the Difference Face Mask gives your skin a cooling sensation while defining and lifting facial contours.
