Most men would think twice about a $60 million purchase after going through a $110 million divorce but, needless to say, Tiger Woods is in a different realm than “most men.” Originally, the 10-acre Jupiter Island, FL home was purchased for $44.5 million before being torn down and re-built. The spot was supposed to be the Woods’ new family home but now, it is the ultimate and most lavish bachelor pad for the golfing legend to kick back and work on his game.
After his divorce, Tiger Woods completely re-vamped the planning that he had done with ex-wife Elin Nordegren and saw to it that the new plans fit his new bachelor lifestyle. The 10,000-square-foot mansion is surrounded by tall trees and high boundary walls to ensure the pro’s privacy, and sits on the Atlantic coast of the state with a pair of boat docks for Tiger Woods yacht, the “Privacy.” Features of the 155 foot mansion include massive windows to allow for the breathtaking ocean views, a glass-front elevator, a huge master bedroom – with his and hers bathrooms still intact – and three additional bedrooms suites, a large wine cellar, and a cinema and game room still possibly in the works.
Surrounding the main house are a boathouse, a large guesthouse, a stand-alone garage, a tennis court, gym, diving pool and lap lane, a 100-foot running track and Tiger’s own personal golf training studio, of which every aspect was personally overseen by Tiger himself. Describing it as “phenomenal,” the golf great has been very excited about his new project. The training course features four greens with six bunkers, each with different depths and types of sand. For some fun, the facility is set up so Tiger can also hit shots out of his second-story studio. To really perfect his game, Woods also chose to include in the training area a video center and putting studio. On his blog, Tiger said, “My swing is still a work in progress, and it takes time to get comfortable with everything. It’s hard to implement all these changes. I just have to keep moving forward.” With his sprawling new, personalized oceanfront golf course, we’re sure he’ll do just that.

“Resistance”, an exhibition of recent works by renowned Saudi artists Faisal Samra opens today at Traffic Gallery. His first solo show at the gallery, Samra combines digital photography, painting, sculpture, video and performance to investigate various states of the human condition. His work raises questions about the nature of identity, liberation, survival, and religious belief.
Samra’s recent works reveal powerful visuals which alarm and captivate the viewer to the point of significant emotional responses. Struggling to break free of something or someone is a general first-hand reaction to his tumultuous oeuvre which is consistently full of cultural amalgam particularly pertaining to the Middle East and the Occident. “The characters are rebelling against temporality, and trying, out of frustration, to counter the media image that controls and veils them. It shows how our visual field is loaded and invaded with images. The man becomes a warrior who has no arms, a Don Quixote. His defense is to remove himself from the image rather than adding another layer,” says the artist of his work in a recent statement.
Faisal Samra is a Bahraini-born Saudi national. He has had over 25 solo exhibitions and participated in over 50 group shows around the world. A former student at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, he has studied, worked and taught in New York, Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and France.
Samra’s work has been exhibited in numerous private galleries and museums including the British Museum (London), Institute de Monde Arabe (Paris), National Museum (Mexico City), Bahrain National Museum (Manama), Saeb Eigner Collection (London), Sheikha Paula Al Sabah (Kuwait) and The Khalid Shoman Private Collection (Amman).
“Resistance” by Faisal Samra is on at Traffic through May 11th.

While it is certainly not difficult to find a day spa in Los Angeles, things do prove to become rather tricky to find the best one.
Nestled away in Robertson Boulevard on the cusp of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Carasoin Day Spa is conveniently situated smack-bang in the middle of all the best boutiques. This premier salon prides itself on its welcoming, positive environment. What’s more is the boutique-style décor it employs, which marks a unique point of difference from your typical white-walled clinical spas, often lacking in warmth and character. The feel of Carasoin is personalized, inviting, and chic.
Priding itself on being a full service, boutique day spa and skin clinic, Carasoin is a complimentary infusion of British and Swiss sensibilities. Featuring an array of both hands-on and machine based treatments, Carasoin’s menu ranges from anti-aging facials to deep tissue massages, body scrubs and wraps, chemical peels, waxing and more.
The brainchild of Swiss-born skincare professional Lena Bratschi, Carasoin was created and founded based around Lena’s lifelong motto: “the skin is an outer reflection of your inner being.”
On founding The Carasoin Day Spa, Lena says, “I found so many places trying to give treatments that make you feel relaxed, without the tangible results, whilst there are a plethora of medi-spas and clinics that are more interested in the checkout procedure than providing the services you actually need. In L.A., time is precious and quality is essential. Having worked in the best skincare facilities in Europe, I know firsthand that the quality of training and products are paramount to achieving results for my clientele. We make sure the level of excellence in Carasoin’s staff is beyond what you’ll find at any other spa.”
As one of the small handful of professionals operating within the United States who have successfully achieved the prestigious CIDESCO qualification – the highest internationally recognized certification for skincare and beauty, rest assured that one is more than safe when in Lena’s hands.
Along with the spa’s plethora of services and treatments available, Carasoin’s product range perfectly compliments its elegant, quality-rich environment. As of last week, Carasoin welcomed a new addition to its menu and is now home to prestigious Swiss skincare line, Luzern Laboratories – a brand highly valued for it’s certified Bio Swiss Organic products – all paraben, artificial coloring, fragrance and stabilizer free. Each of the ingredients are natural and cultivated at high altitude in the Alps, thus, gaining a reputation as being the purest, most luxurious in the world.
Carasoin is a true testament to providing Los Angeles with the highest standards in skincare.
Amen.
Carasoin Day Spa is located at 120 N. Robertson Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90048; 310.855.0105
On Monday, March 28, New York City luminaries and heavy-hitters supporting HIV/AIDS awareness gathered at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum for the annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares benefit. The charity event, now in its eighth year, raises funds for organizations that fight LGBT discrimination or provide life-saving services for those affected by HIV/AIDS.
The festivities consisted of an elite cocktail reception, auction and runway show, featuring top male models and selected men’s spring/summer styles from Jeffrey boutiques. Organizations benefitting from the 2011 fundraiser were: Hetrick-Martin Institute (home of the Harvey Milk School), Lambda Legal (the formidable LGBT law firm), the Gay Men’s Health Crisis, and the Point Foundation (an LGBT student merit scholarship).
Generous sponsors of the philanthropic fête included: Diamond Sponsor, The Palette Fund, Belvedere, Golden Door, Nordstrom, Sperry Top-Sider, W Hotels/Starwood Preferred Guest, Manolo Blahnik, Gucci and David Yurman, among many others. To this date, Jeffrey Fashion Cares has raised more than $11 million, with more than $4 million coming from the New York event.
Before the main event commenced, guests sipped glasses of Moët & Chandon at a cocktail reception for VIPs and big donors (counting the likes of designers Jason Wu, Peter Som and Adam Lippes; TV personality Nate Berkus; and New Jersey Housewives’ Dina Manzo). An hour in, the rest of the invités began pouring in for silent auction. Items up for bid ranged from luxury packages in Istanbul, Bali and Paris to über chic goods from Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Etro, and Maison Martin Margiela. Other enticing options at silent auction consisted of VIP Broadway tickets and dinner packages, and high-end gift baskets. More noteworthy faces mingled about, Belvedere cocktails in hand: model Hanne Gabby Odiele, designer Joseph Altuzara, style expert Robert Verdi, and New York Housewives’ Alex McCord could all be accounted for.
After the silent auction, patrons proceeded to their seats for the runway presentation, where Christie’s auctioneer, Tash Perrin and host, Nate Berkus, led a live auction interlude to much aplomb: A week for two at the Golden Door Spa in San Diego went for $10,500; a Paris Fashion Week package hammered in at $11,000; and a Thailand retreat at the W Hotel in Koh Samui rang in at $8,000. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that the event had already amassed over $500,000 in charitable donations—undoubtedly a momentous success.
Next, attendees enjoyed a brief video-montage explaining Jeffrey Fashion Cares and the history of the causes it supports, before models stormed the runway in Lanvin, Balenciaga and Gucci. Then it was back to the DJ spinning top-notch beats, as guests took a few more rounds at the various bars peppered throughout.

An Italianate mansion on Russia’s Black Sea coast, known as Putin’s Palace, has apparently been sold to entrepreneur Aleksandr Ponomarenko in the capacity of a hotel complex, the Kommersant business daily reports. The deal is allegedly worth $ 350 million. The luxury palace was secretly owned by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, according to the the Ruleaks website – the Russian equivalent of the whistleblower website WikiLeaks. Putin himself denies that he ever owned it.
The Black Sea palace is said to have cost one billion dollars to build. It is complete with helicopter pad, spa, casino and its own vineyard. The mansion also includes an indoor cinema, a summer amphitheatre, swimming pools and a clock tower. Earlier this year Mr Putin was alleged that the villa was built for his private use with the proceeds of “corruption, bribery and theft.” Where did the money come from for construction, remains the main question according to the Kommersant.
New lucky owner – Aleksandr Ponomarenko – is a shipping magnate with an estimated worth of $1.4 billion. He is avidly denying reports that Vladimir Putin owns the place and insists he bought the complex from three owners (Nikolai Shamalov, a friend of Mr Putin, and two of his partners) after they asked him to invest because they had run out of money.
Mr Ponomarenko is now announcing his plans to turn 8 million square foot mansion into a hotel complex.

The UAE is a country known for its abundance of luxury vehicles; any given hotel or shopping mall is a testament to that when your eyes wander over the Astons, Porches, Maseratis or Range Rovers lined up like ducks in a row.
But taking the UAE to the next level is the largest Rolls-Royce showroom in the world, situated in the Umm Al Nar area of Abu Dhabi. The new state-of-the-art facility was recently unveiled by Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
The 900-square-metre showroom provides space for displaying five Rolls-Royce motor cars, a coffee bar, and a customer configuration lounge including colour and trim samples. The showroom is also directly linked to a new dedicated Rolls-Royce service facility.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös said, “The showroom opening in Abu Dhabi represents one of a line of new and expanded Rolls‑Royce showrooms which have been unveiled throughout the Gulf region in the last 18 months. These investments underline the continuing confidence that the company sees in the Rolls-Royce brand across the Middle East.” He continued, “The Middle East region continues to be an important driver in the global growth of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Last year the region contributed over 15% of our global sales. Abu Dhabi is no exception and continues to demonstrate remarkable year on year growth.”
Also unveiled at the showroom opening was the Spirit of Ecstasy Centenary Collection Phantom Drophead Coupé. It is one of a collection of 100 highly bespoke Rolls-Royce Phantom models, which were built to mark the Centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy, 100 years since the world’s most instantly recognisable bonnet figurine was first fitted to Rolls-Royce cars. The car features a teak rear deck, which represents the brand’s old-world craftsmanship that isn’t found anywhere else in today’s automotive landscape.
Collectors across the world have clambered for these highly coveted vehicles, and with such a strong car culture in the UAE, The Rolls-Royce finds its perfect home in the Middle East.

How else not to break up your day and get a little kick with a lovely dose of a smooth and creamy espresso? Believe it or not, this renowned Italian shot of coffee has its origins on a hillside in Ethiopia. Numerous stories site that coffee was found in the African country and discovered by the Arabs around 1000 AD who then brought it to Venice through trade in the 16th century. The Italians then developed a lively coffee culture of their own. As a city of crossroads, you can find a strong Arabic coffee brew as well as the renowned Italian espresso in Dubai. Delight in the following top places for your espresso break in Dubai.
It’s time for your morning wake-up call — better grab a cup of joe on your way out the door. And we know just the place …
It seems like yesterday that we were at the fabulous Zanotti Design boutique on Brighton Way for the opening party. Many Hollywood starlets came to support the master of high-heel art and had their stilettos signed by Giuseppe Zanotti himself. Lindsay Lohan came out to support the designer rocking her shoes, and so did we.
Kanye West, Lindsay Lohan, Avril Lavigne, Padma Lakshmi, Mena Suvari, Cindy Crawford and Rihanna are among his devotees. The famed Italian designer has worked with the best brands – Balmain, Proenza Schouler, Thakoon and Christopher Kane in a synergy of creativity and avant-garde that has giving us amazing results.
It is no surprise that we are back at the store to see what’s hot and what’s new. We talked about the latest trends and the spring collection with the store manager- Cesar Quezada.
The store is intimate, charming and is framed in mirrors with dark wood accents.
Although the store is a new addition to the Rodeo drive area, it is already well known among the fashionstas in LA and beyond. The styles that we loved are already sold out in our sizes and will need to be custom ordered. We love the fact that there are limited edition shoes numbered and signed by the designer.
Here are our favorites picks: the black bow sandals, animal print high heel sandals, bright seafome suede platforms and beige patents pumps.
