Time stood still for a moment to announce the newest milestone for luxury watch and diamond jewelry brand, Jacob & Co, at the Baselworld trade show in Basel, Switzerland. On March 29, 2011, Jacob & Co unveiled the much anticipated face of their newest advertising campaign “The Jacob Girl,” as world renowned beauty and actress Milla Jovovich. Founder of the company, Jacob Arabo presented Jovovich as his newest muse to embody his concept of a woman who “is a sophisticated world traveller, self accomplished and exudes an assertive feminine personality, and lastly who is absolutely gorgeous!”
The announcement was unveiled during a luxurious red carpet cocktail reception which was decadently decorated in an elaborate setting of live illuminated model statues portraying Jacob & Co’s global philosophy of multiple time zones, where each of the models were decorated to represent particular cities and ethnicities such as London, Moscow, Dubai, Hong Kong and of course the Big Apple and birthplace of Jacob & Co, New York City.
Guests at the event indulged at a Dom Perignon champagne bar and were entertained by famed DJ Kay Rush who played the role of multi lingual MC, greeting the crowd in five different languages. Milla Jovovich directed a warm acceptance speech to both Jacob & Co and the audience expressing her gratitude and testament to her commitment to her role in embracing “The Jacob Girl.”
For more information about this luxurious brand visit Jacob & Co website.

Fashionistas will have the opportunity to meet designer Zang Toi and preview his fall 2011 collection at a special event on Wednesday, April 20, and Thursday, April 21, at Neiman Marcus in Scottsdale.
The bold and sexy designs of New York-based fashion designer Zang Toi burst onto the scene in the 1989 when he established his label, “House of Toi.” A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, he has since then dressed such A-listers as Sharon Stone, Fergie (of the Black Eyed Peas), Ivana Trump, Kelly Preston, Meg Ryan, Eva Longoria, Debra Messing, Farrah Fawcett, Angela Bassett and others.
The Fall/Winter 2011 Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week, held in February at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, saw the kind of dramatic and sexy Zang Toi couture the fashion world has come to adore and expect from the Malaysian designer. The season’s color palette is simple yet elegant, showcasing shades of camel, black, gray and a vibrant yet sophisticated emerald green. High necks, capes, long lines, fur and billowy, feminine sleeves are just a few of the prominent features, with the evening gowns boasting regal glamour and beautifully figure-flattering silhouettes.
This special event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days in the Couture Salon on the second level of Neiman Marcus at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Shoppers will have the chance to preview Zang Toi’s latest collection up close and in person, as well as meet the man behind the couture.
You can preview the collection online at House of Toi. For details regarding the event, contact Neiman Marcus at 480.990.2100.

Notorious for his cocktail dresses, intricate detailing, and the updated trench, designer Rolando Santana has added over-the-top necklaces to his label. Each piece makes an over the top statement, perfectly complimenting the nude Spring palette, playing with light silk burnouts and structured yet soft jacquards and cotton fabrics. ”My favorite component about the collection is that each piece is very versatile and can take a woman to a variety of events, from a summer night on the beach to a fancy elegant event opening,” explains Santana.

Max Girombelli, owner of the prestigious Italian men’s tailor Duca Sartoria is back in Dubai for another exclusive Made-to-Measure event at the exclusive Capital Club which celebrates it’s 3rd year anniversary this evening with a James Bond styled party. One of the sponsors, Duca Sartoria hosts its trunk show to celebrate the occasion.
This time around Max held his first trunk show in Abu Dhabi at the newly opened luxurious Cipriani Hotel on Yas Island as part of the Abu Dhabi Yach Show. Illustrious guests tricked into Max’s atelier in Cipriani’s Cigar Room while he fitted them in Duca Sartoria’s tailor made-to-measure garments.
The Girombelli family has been in the men’s atelier business for three generations and has produced some of world’s best tailored men’s suits. Max’s uncle discovered Gianni Versace and his father and older brother worked closely with men’s fashion in Italy especially with designers such Enrico Coveri, Marithé François Girbaud, Franco Moschino, and Valentino Garavani.
Max thus grew up in a world full of creativity and love for fashion. He often used his family business as a way to test his designs and inspirations for menswear. After many years of working in the family business, he and his younger brother Roberto decided to launch their own company dedicated entirely to the tailoring of men’s suits. Duca Sartoria was born.
Max Girombelli will suit you up in the finest fabrics perfect for an executive dinner or elegant family affair. He offers services from personal fittings, selecting fabrics, linings, and other specialized elements for a unique tailor-made to measure garment.
Don’t miss your chance to book an appointment with Max at the Capital Club through Saturday, April 2nd.

With its forgiving climate and unusual concentration of high-profile power earners, Los Angeles is pretty much conceded to be the American mecca of roadgoing supercars. Indeed, a cursory drive through Beverly Hills will usually have you crossing paths with a Ferrari F430, Audi R8 or a Mercedes-Benz SLR-McLaren. So in putting together an exhibit celebrating the concept of the supercar, the Petersen Automotive Museum faced a tough task in elevating their “floor models” to a cut above the cars buzzing past just outside their doors on Wilshire Boulevard. Their solution? Assemble some of the rarest and most expensive sports cars of each era, including more than one limited-production car from the automotive braintrusts of France, Germany, Italy and the good ole USA. The result is an exhibit that will likely have even the most accomplished car collectors pining with envy.
Running through October 16, Supercars: When Too Much Is Almost Enough features 18 of history’s most arresting high-horsepower sports cars, ranging from a 1923 Mercedes-Benz Targa Florio to a 2006 Bugatti Veyron. Here’s a few highlights…
Funnyman Adam Carolla’s 1969 Lamborghini Miura S (above, left) takes center stage in the exhibit, flanked by the museum’s 1971 De Tomaso Pantera. The V-12 powered Lambo, often regarded as one of the first true modern supercars, could reach 173 mph, while the Ford V-8 powered Pantera trailed only slightly at 159 mph. To boot, the Petersen’s Pantera was once owned, and shot, by Elvis Presley…the bullet holes remain in the steering wheel to this day.
Carolla’s car is bookended by the 1968 Bizzarrini Manta (owned by Ron and Diane Spindler), a one-off showcar that former Bertone and Ghia stylist Giorgetto Giugiaro debuted at the Turin Auto Show to promote his then-new company, Ital Design. The Manta features an unusual 3-seat cockpit, a configuration later copied in the iconic McLaren F1.
This 1985 Lamborghini Countach (owned by Dan Ellis) is a prime example of one of the most recognized supercars of all time. Its Marcello Gandini design is widely credited to have led the pack in the wedge styling movement that dominated the 70s and 80s, in makes such as Lotus, TVR, Delorean, and Triumph.
Rare and expensive even by the standards of the exhibit, this 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR (owned by Rusty West) is one of just 25 road cars that were produced to meet the homologation rules that would qualify the model to race competitively. Pricetag when new? A cool $1.5 million.
This 2005 Maserati MC12 (owned by the Riverside International Automotive Museum) is one of just 50 produced. Developing 630 hp and capable of reaching 205 mph, the MC12 marked Maserati’s return to racing after a 3½ decade hiatus.
From the museum’s collection of Ferraris come these two commemorative models, which respectively celebrated the 40th and 50th anniversaries of the marque: a 1990 F-40 (left) and a 1995 F-50 (right).
Leave it to the Spanish to come up with such a splendidly singular vision of speed and elegance. This 1954 Pegaso Z-102 (owned by Chuck Swimmer) features a body by French coachbuilder Saoutchik, and is one of only 84 Pegasos ever produced.
Still regarded as one of the most desirable grand touring Ferraris ever, the 400 Superamerica was produced in two series. This 1963 example (owned by Don and Carol Murray) is one of 19 second-series cars that were bodied as coupes, and was once owned by former Vice President Nelson A. Rockefeller.
After its GT40 won four straight 24 Hours of Le Mans in the late 60s, Ford began to develop a roadgoing version that would transform racing success into sales figures. Unfortunately, the original car’s qualities did not translate very well into about-town comfort, leaving Ford to eventually pull the plug after tepid sales. (Ironically, the car they next developed to fill the exotic sports car niche was the aforementioned Pantera, which they equipped with a 351 cubic inch V-8 and sold through their dealer network.) This uber-rare 1967 example of a roadgoing GT40 (owned by the Petersen) is one of just seven of the Mark III cars that finished the model’s run.

When you hear the name Breguet, what do you think of? The first image that most likely enters into your mind are the beautiful, custom made watches, crafted in the best materials, and carved into magnanimous shapes and patterns. In short, you imagine some of the most stunning watches that past and previous generations have had the pleasure of laying eyes on. But although Breguet produces luxuriously unique watches, they also specialize in the delicate art-form of jewelry making.
Watches and Jewelry: two different aspects of accessorizing, yet two very similar ideas of crafting that must be perfected in order to manufacture the very best assortments. The practiced designers must obtain a keen eye for a splendid vision that is able to both keep the classic presentation of Breguet’s legacy, while also being innovative enough to astonish viewers. The skilled goldsmiths must have a talent for perfect crafting, creating a perfect imitation of the designer’s original conception. All polishers need a grasp of perfect shine, and must generate that impeccable shimmer into the presence of each watch and piece of jewelry. The gem setters must also be impeccable at their craft, as their addition to each piece is like the “cherry on top” of a masterpiece. But the inspiration within Breguet would have not been realized if it were not for the historic feminine figures of Europe, such as the infamous Marie Antoinette.
Marie Antoinette has influenced many series of movies, novels, biographies, clothing, and now she is inspiring the creators within Breguet’s realm. Her opulent fashion sense yet classic sensuality and elegance are reflected onto many different pieces, such as the newly added La Rose de la Reine jewelry set that has turned heads at this year’s Baselworld. The beautiful creations of Breguet surely take the wearer back to the royal lavishness of European courts, while still giving them enough modern attraction to be quite relevant, and quite dazzling, in our generation.
Sorrento Grille, the 22-year-old restaurant that’s still going strong in downtown Laguna, is hosting a beer dinner April 6th for fans of food and fine beer. Teaming with the North Coast Brewing Co., Chef Ryan Adams is creating a fresh, farm-to-fork menu that’s the perfect pairing for foodies and beer lovers alike.
The North Coast Brewing Co. is an award-winning micro-brewery located on the scenic Mendocino coast. They’re known for their contributions to the craft beer movement and the international awards that they’ve earned throughout the years. Brewmaster Mark Ruedrich has earned over 70 awards, so teaming up with Ryan Adams at Sorrento Grille was a natural choice. During the dinner, which will highlight luxe pub grub and micro-brews, diners can enjoy five perfectly paired courses for just $45.
Courses include a chorizo slider paired with Acme pale ale and a meat loaf accompanied by North Coast’s Brother Thelonious Abbey Ale, along with appetizers, a dessert and more. Diners can also enjoy a private Q&A with a North Coast expert, who will be on hand throughout the meal to share the brewing process and provide details on each and every choice on the menu.
So skip the gastropub and head to a local favorite known for their fresh take on food. Trust us when we say that this menu definitely gives some of OC’s gastropub standbys some stiff competition.
Sorrento Grille is located at 370 Glenneyre St., in Laguna Beach. For more information or to make a reservation to the Beer Dinner, call 949.494.8686 or visit their official web site at www.sorrento-grille.com.

Hilary Sessions knows how to pillow talk. At least that’s what I gather when I step into her home/showroom in Mill Valley where she is showing off the newest plumped-to-perfection additions to her Quarry Hill Design interior design business.
“Pillows are like adding accessories to an outfit,” says Sessions. “They give a room personality, dimension and color.”
Looking around, I want to dive into a pile on the couch (but that would be rude) or curl up on a couple in front of the fire place. Instead I run my fingers along the carnival of silky and colorful fabrics, and nowhere do I see more than two pillows same. Using only top quality material from manufactures like Schumacher, Lee Jofa and Fortuny to name only a few, each pillow is machine sewn and hand finished at a workshop with whom Sessions has been partnered for years, assuring a quality and custom look sure to add luxe to your love seat or brilliance to your bedroom. Prints run the range from classic and traditional to whimsical and modern, and everything in between.
Sessions is no stranger to decorating and her education and background in design, art history, and architecture have served her well in this domain. Sessions and Quarry Hill Designs have been at it now for 20 years, first working with realtors to stage homes, then taking on private interior décor clients. At one time Sessions had a warehouse filled with enough furnishings to stage five homes, including nearly 300 pillows. When the recession hit two years ago, she scaled back.
“I had been talking about custom pillows for nearly five years,” she said.
You’ll be glad she did. Quarry Hill Pillows launches April 1 and these are no ordinary catalogue pieces. Like a little lipstick and funky pair of earrings does for me, these beautification boosts “give a facelift to a room,” she says. She hopes her experience and her attention to the individual needs of each client will help grow this sector of her business.
“Not every client is the same, not everyone’s taste is the same so I don’t want every house to look the same,” she says, ”I’ll also work with clients to find a specific fabric they like, or even use their own fabric.”
Standard pillow sizes are 22 x 22 inches and start at $125. The sumptuous Fortuny silk box pillow I tried to stuff in my purse was $250. She also works with Sunbrella and other exterior fabric for outdoor furniture.
Eventually Sessions plans to have online ordering capability on her website but for now, log on have a look around, and contact her for specific requests. You’ll soon discover that Sessions, and her pillows, know how to work a room.
