Hautels: Luxury Staycations in New York City This March

Gone are the days of collegiate vacations and trips-en-masse to Cancun–for me at least. That doesn’t mean however we can’t still escape from out behind the cubicle for a little staycation in our own backyard. This month, a handful of luxury hotels and shopping destinations are offering up some exclusive deals to promote NYC tourism and strengthen the overall morale swiping arms of our city’s inhabitants. How nice.

So if you have recently caught yourself dreaming of a mini-détente coupled with some good ole R&R and retail therapy you’re in luck. Whether an uptown girl wanting to lay her head in midtown and indulge in some VIP services at Saks Fifth Avenue, or a downtown guy wanting to sleep proximate to the park and spend the day cruising Madison Avenue’s finest, there’s an option for you both, as The Benjamin Hotel and the Carlyle are offering up some luxury specials.

At the Benjamin in midtown, guests who purchase their package receive a personal shopping session with a Saks Fifth Avenue specialist, a wardrobe styling based on Fashion Week trends, a beauty make-over, a Saks goodie bag, and two free cocktails at new restaurant The National. And if the stress of the day is too much to handle, don’t fret, as a 25-minute massage at the Wellness Spa is in order as well.

For those uptowners at the Carlyle, the specials on the “menu” are equally promising. Spend a few days at the Carlyle with their March offerings and receive gift cards and discounts at Carolina Herrera, Luca Luca, Intermix, Steuben, Stubbs & Wootton, Manrico Cashmere, Yves Delorme and LampeBerger. You’ll also get a free upgrade, 20 percent off the best available rates and complimentary breakfast. Forget Cabo, I’m staying here.

These packages won’t land you on the beach with a mojito, but they’ll definitely help you unwind from your hectic daily operations. And though the going rates at both hotels aren’t exactly cheap, they are some “Benjamins” worth spending. If for some reason neither package appeals to you, there’s always option three: Live here, pay an exorbitant amount of rent and shop VIP-less as you wish.
