Wes Gordon

The Stats: Born in Chicago; Lived in Atlanta, Georgia; Currently lives in New York.

Best Aspect of New York: “Being able to do absolutely anything at absolutely any hour of the day.”

Wes Gordon, known for his beautifully constructed pieces tied with elegance, luxury, sophistication with a young, modern edge, is considered one of the most talented up-and-coming young designer. Being from the South, Gordon grew up surrounded by the elegance and romance of Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended the prestigious Lovett preparatory school. Even though he was given entry into some of the most competitive universities in the country, he followed his passion for fashion. He spent his evenings studying in the studio of a former Russian couturiere, learning how much perseverance and precision it took to make beautiful clothes.

Fall/Winter 2011

As a way to further expand his knowledge of fashion design, he enrolled in the infamous Central Saint Martins University of Art and Design in London. During his time there, he was mentored by Howard Tangye, the head of the legendary womenswear program. Some notable alumni of the school are John Galliano, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, and Phoebe Philo. He also found time to also learn from some of the best in the fashion industry, Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford, learning the absolute importance of knowing the woman for whom he was designing.
