Haute Secrets Miami: Nancy Batchelor

Insider’s Guide to Miami

Name: Nancy Batchelor

The stats: Born in Osh Kosh, Wisconsin; lived in Miami since 1982, currently in Miami Beach

Why she loves Miami: “The beach, the weather and the diversity of people and cultures.”

Nancy Batchelor is a full time realtor at the office of Esslinger Wooten & Maxwell in South Florida. In 2010, Nancy’s sales volume totaled $32 million, placing her 15th in real estate sales in all of Miami-Dade County. She highly regarded in the real estate world.

Nancy is also extremely involved in the Miami community, supporting the arts and other local philanthropies in the area. She and her husband, Jonathan Batchelor, along with Nicole & Edgar Lozano, are currently the co-chairs for the 2011 Miami Science Museum’s 9th Annual Galaxy Gala, which will take place on Saturday, March 26 at the new JW Marriott Marquis hotel in downtown Miami.

This promises to be the most extravagant Galaxy Gala to date, as the evening will not only celebrate MiaSci’s 60-plus-year history, but also toast to its exciting future. The Galaxy Gala is the last big fundraising push before the Science Museum breaks ground on its $275 million new home on the waterfront in downtown Miami’s Museum Park.

Themed in radiant white and extraterrestrial luminous beams, the Ninth Annual Galaxy Gala will provide a preview of what’s in store at the new museum: a virtual underwater tour that simulates the 600,000-gallon aquarium, dancing under a planetarium-like dome with a dazzling laser experience, silent auction in a solar-themed room, and the Big Bang! Afterparty for MiaSci Young Patrons, which will actually start with a big bang experience.

There are a select number of tickets still available for the Galaxy Gala ($500/person), and if you want to snag a spot at the “Saturn Ring Head Table” ($2,000/couple), move quickly – only a few seats remain. Visit their wesite, www.miamisci.org/www/gala_intro.php.

“From the Board Room to the Ballroom… Nancy Knows South Florida.”
