Haute Event: Glitterati Attend Masked Ball at Plaza Hotel
The annual Save Venice Un Ballo in Maschera (Masked Ball) took place at The Plaza Hotel on Tuesday night. The event always brings out New York City’s most glamorous crowd and this year was no exception. Bad girl of rock Courtney Love and “Rachel Zoe Project” cast member Brad Goreski were in attendance along with familiar faces in the NYC social scene – Luigi Tadini, Alexandra Lind Rose, Matthew White, Adelina Wong Ettelson, Carlos Souza, Olivia Chantecaille, and many more.
Save Venice is a New York-based organization that raises money to restore works of art and architecture in Venice. To date they’ve raised more than $40 million. The organization is currently working on 30 projects and the ball aided the effort. Save Venice Inc. was founded in 1966 after floods caused serious damage; it was the highest tide in Venice in the last century.
Revelers in masks danced the night away, sipping Grey Goose cocktails in the Grand Ballroom which was transformed by Ron Wendt Design into an Adriatic haven. The masks and dresses were divine and diverse to say the least. The organization also held a mask and costume contest with the best female mask winner recieving a $2,000 gift card to Italian designer Valentino. For the male with the best mask? A magnum of Grey Goose. And the best couple masks won a 2-night stay at the BVLGARI HOTEL in Milan.
