Haute Event: Fendi’s Modern Primitives at South Coast Plaza
Attention collectors, whether you’re into one-of-a-kind furniture or you’re against every it-bag that ever was. The Fendi boutique at South Coast Plaza is hosting a unique event Thursday, March 10 that’ll get you something nobody else will have. With Fendi artisans on hand to customize handbags and the design duo of architects Ben Aranda and Chris Lasch, the Modern Primitives exhibit is sure to give you some new ideas when it comes to accessorizing.
Debuting at Design Miami in December of 2010, the Modern Primitives exhibition is a collaboration between Aranda and Lasch with Fendi. Together, the duo used abstract shapes and challenged every idea of furniture they could — what’s pictured above? They call it a baby chair. Both will be on hand during the event, helping customers create pieces of modern luxury with Fendi fur and leather. Judging by the chair they created, you can be sure whatever you cook up together will be completely unique.
For those more into fashion than furniture, Fendi’s also brought in some of their master craftsmen, so you can personalize your own Fendi Selleria handbag or create one from scratch with the Roman house’s artisans. After designing your custom creation (that portion of the exhibit runs from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.), there’ll be a champagne reception celebrating the Modern Primitives that’ll be on display in Jewel Court where you can show off your designs and figure out just how elegantly you can repose on a chair made of cubes.
So get your Gaga on, grab your sketchbooks and prepare to fill your home and wardrobe with these special pieces of art.
The Fendi boutique is located at 3333 Bristol St., at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. For more information on Fendi’s Modern Primitives or more information regarding the event at South Coast Plaza, call the boutique at 714.751.1111 or visit the official web site of Modern Primitives here.
