Haute Dining: Omen Japanese Restaurant
by Mariel Cayre

Although I do love Bond St. and Nobu, on Saturday night I was in the mood for a change. This past weekend I decided to venture outside of my comfort zone and tried Omen restaurant in Soho. Although hesitant at first, the first two people I noticed when I walked in are Liev Schreiber and Jon Bon Jovi, which secretly (or not so secretly now) got me excited.
I was pleasantly surprised by the authentic Japanese, Kyoto-style cuisine and rustic décor at Omen and would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an enjoying, filling experience. Although they do not have sushi, Omen does have sashimi and other traditional Japanese appetizers that are delicious. Their signature dish, which of course I got, is there udon noodles. Seasonal vegetables and a soup broth are given to mix with the noodles, which I found very creative and tasty! The seared cod is another delectable choice that I would highly recommend. The ambiance at Omen is elegant and the service is good.
Omen Restaurant is located at 113 Thompson St., New York City, 212.925.8923
