Haute Time: Girard-Perregaux Creates Exclusive Timepiece for Christie’s “Bid to Save the Earth” Green Auction

The Swiss haute Horlogerie manufacture Girard-Perregaux has created an exclusive, iconic watch, dubbed the ww.tc (world wide time control) Chronograph for Green Auction to donate to the Christie’s “Bid to Save the Earth” Green Auction. The exclusive GP033CO in-house movement unties chronograph and date functions with world time indication. Its see-through back with visible finishes is filled with sapphires. These finishes include circular graining on the main plate, Côtes de Genève on the bridges and oscillating weight, or blued steel screws.

The watch’s case contains a satin finish, which emphasizes the subtle strength of its design. The 24-hour ring has been decorated with a green/white contrast to honor the Green Auction cause. Stefano Macaluso, President of the Sowind Group, owner of Girard-Perregaux said: “We are pleased to create an exclusive watch for the Green Auction; at Girard-Perregaux, we are fully aware of the ecological issues at hand and feel it is important to incorporate environmental responsibility in our business philosophy.”

The world’s leading international collectors, philanthropists, celebrities, and designers will gather together on March 29, 2011 at New York City’s Rockefeller Center for this amazing event. The evening will include entertainment, a live fantasy Green Auction by Chrisites, and a Runway to Green fashion show debuting Fall 2011 ready-to-wear clothing and accessories from 25 of the worlds top designers. Bidding for the GP watch gan on March 17 and will end April 7, 2011. Proceeds from the event will benefit the second annual “Bid to Save the Earth,” a one-of-a kind “green-clusive” collaboration of people, businesses, and environmental non-profits dedicated to protecting the future of our Earth. The proceeds from ‘Bid’ finance some of the world’s leading science-based, non profits, including: Central Park Conservancy, Conservation International, Natural Resources Defense Council and Oceana.
