Dine in the Dark for Earth Day

prasino, the first eco-friendly cafe in Chicago’s western suburbs, will turn off all non-essential lighting to celebrate Earth Hour this Saturday, March 26th at 8:30 p.m. in both LaGrange & St. Charles locations.
Guests dining at either location between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on March 26, will enjoy a variety of Executive Chef Scott Halverson’s seasonal restaurant signatures, by candlelight, including braised beef short ribs with cauliflower cheddar gratin, greens, truffle mushroom cabernet sauce; and miso chili glazed line caught Alaskan black cod with steamed brown rice, julienned vegetables, ginger carrot sauce.
Earth Hour is an event in which millions of Americans will turn out their lights for one hour in support of action on climate change and toward creating a cleaner, safer and more secure future. 2011 marks the fourth year of the event, which attracted more than 80 million participants in the U.S. last year, and nearly a billion people around the world, as lights dimmed on such global icons as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Sydney’s Opera House, the Great Pyramids of Gaza and New York’s Empire State Building.
Led by the Maglaris family of third-generation restaurateurs, prasino (the Greek word meaning “green”), presents affordably-priced breakfast, lunch and dinner menu items with an emphasis on seasonal, locally-grown organic fare, and served in a modern, environmentally-conscious setting. Much of the produce incorporated into each menu is grown exclusively at prasino’s crops harvested at Knutson’s Country Harvest in Newark, IL. prasino Wicker Park will debut in Summer 2011.
