Coming Soon: reALIze – Punching Bag Portrait of Boxing Legend Muhammad Ali
by Zineb Zebdi

Muhammad Ali is a remarkable sportsman and a devoted philanthropist who truely embodies the spirit of a champion and a fighter. He was once the heavyweight champion of the world and is now celebrated and awarded for his public service efforts–it is no wonder that he is known as “The Greatest.”
In an effort to commend and commemorate such an inspiring personality, the acclaimed artist Michael Kalish, in partnership with the architectural firm Oyler Wu Collaborative have given rise to the dignifying monument entitled reALIze. The two-story structure is made up of stainless steel, aluminum tubes and 1,300 boxing bags. When viewed at a particular angle, the panoramic edifice brings to life a two-dimensional optic of Muhammad Ali’s eternal face.
While undetaking the colossal task that is reALIze, Kalish was inspired to create an increadibly immense chef d’oeuvre that would justfully pay tribute to the legend’s legacy. “This is an opportunity of a lifetime and I’m honored I could create this monument to pay homage to such an incredible man,” said Kalish about the extraordinary creative project. The three-year venture will finally be brought to light on March 25 at the the Nokia Center for L.A Live.
