Hautels: The Andaz is San Diego’s Hottest New Luxury Hotel

It’s hard to be the trendiest spot in The Gaslamp Quarter, because everything is trendy, everything is hip, everything is unique and fun, but the new Andaz San Diego, located right in the heart of the quarter, is doing an admirable job of taking that title. While the area hosts such hipster hotel names as The Hard Rock and The W, the Andaz is bringing in a subtle coolness that isn’t going unnoticed, and serving up an extra side of generosity, something most hotels overlook.

The Andaz, formerly The Ivy Hotel, is 159 rooms of urban style and fuss-free decor that includes flat-screens and glass-encased bathrooms. The sleek, city feel of the hotel starts at the front desk, where you aren’t greeted by a large staff typing away behind a long desk, instead you are welcomed by a good-looking, suited employee on a thin laptop amidst modern couches and low-lighting. While you wait, there are complimentary snacks to greet you at the desk, and then you’re up to your room, catching a glimpse of the gorgeous Quarter Kitchen on your way to the elevator.

Once inside your room, or one of the property’s seventeen suites, the first thing you will notice is that this hotel is giving you comforts at no extra charge. Water and sodas, snacks, and internet service are all included in your room fee. This is almost unheard of these days! A hotel that doesn’t make you log into some complicated twelve-screen registration while charging your credit card to use their wireless internet?  A mini-bar that isn’t set to charge whatever is missing? It takes a pretty high-class venture to give things away, where others charge, and that sets the Andaz San Diego far apart from their competition. While they are definitely an upscale venue, they are classy enough to give amenities without extra hassle or charges.

Aside from all of it’s creature comforts and obvious generosity to it’s guests, the Andaz San Diego is hosting some of the Gaslamp’s very best clubs. The Ivy Nightclub and The Ivy Rooftop are two of the hottest places in all of southern California, much less all of San Diego. The Ivy Nightclub is a four-story club pumping the best music and hosting the city’s most beautiful people. You can bet that getting into this club, if you are able, is something every hipster in town is dying to achieve. The Ivy Rooftop is the chill lounge area where you can watch the sunset and drink cocktails while meeting the gorgeous people that got dressed to go out this evening.

If you’re looking for an atmosphere a little more quiet, head into The Ivy Wine Bar and experience the over eighty hand-picked wines from around the state and world, delivered from their state-of-the-art, high-tech system, taking as little or as much of each bottle as you’d like while the wine directors lead you to the glasses you will enjoy most. If all of that doesn’t entice you, their amazing rooftop pool, filled to the brim with hard bodies, will definitely pull you in for The Andaz experience.

So, a stay at the Andaz  San Diego is going to give you the very best in service and the very best San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter has to offer by way of style, company, and entertainment. The swagger of The Andaz isn’t overt, it’s understated, which is, of course, so much cooler. They know what they’ve got going on, and they’re going to share it with you, if you’re lucky enough to have a few days residence in their presence. Worth the stay and worth the night out, the Andaz San Diego is a name to be recognized and reiterated.
