Rosa Mexicano Brings Mas Tequila To South Beach

You’ve been to Napa, capered about Italian vineyards, and ventured on many a wine flight in your lifetime, but tequila flights are hard to come by. Board the flight less traveled when Rosa Mexicano opens its latest location in the Herzog de Meuron building at 1111 Lincoln Road. Slated to open late next week, Rosa’s festive vibe and authentic Mexican cuisine are bringing the spice to South Beach.

Made-to-order daily and prepared with the freshest ingredients, chefs Christian Plotczyk, David Sloane, and James Cawley plate entradas, main dishes, tacos, and anything that sizzles in a contemporary space that reflects Mexico’s vibrant cultural diversity. Inspired by Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, New York-based Seed Design Studio created a 3,500-square-foot indoor/outdoor hotspot, which seats 108 inside in its casually chic dining room, and 92 guests in its al fresco patio area. Pet-friendly and extending the perfect perch for some of the best people watching around, Rosa Mexicano is setting Lincoln Road ablaze with upscale Mexican dining and weekday happy hour.

Prepare your palate for entradas such as guacamole en molcajete, prepared table-side and served with warm, house-made corn tortillas, crispy tortilla chips, salsa pasilla de Oaxaca, and salsa de tomatillo and habanero; sopa de tortilla; and Rosa Mexicano’s signature tacos de panza de puerco, served on house-made tortillas, with spicy piloncillo pickles and fiery molcajete salsa. Main plates, served with family-style offerings are perfect for sharing, like tablones, succulent alambre a la Mexicana, and pescado pibil, featuring butterflied red snapper, marinated in a traditional Yucatan mixture of achiote, orange, and garlic. Rosa Mexicano South Beach will also offer the restaurant’s Flavors of Mexico program, which incorporates regional specialties, unique tasting menus, and cooking demonstrations.

Take a break from work with Rosa’s lunch menu, featuring a hamburguesa con queso, perfectly grilled beef sirloin on a brioche bun with melted Chihuahua cheese, served with chipotle mayo and sweet potato fries; and an amazing chicken sandwich made with orange and garlic scented pulled chicken. Diners who prefer a lighter lunch fare can choose a crisp ensalada de la calle con atún al pastor, made with barbecued tuna loin, tossed with mango, pineapple, pumpkin seeds and served over red-leaf lettuce dressed in honey-lime vinaigrette. End on a sweet note with postres, such as churros en bolsa, dusted with sugar and cinnamon, and served with three dipping sauces: chocolate, caramel, and raspberry; and pingüino, filled with hazelnut mousse, topped with crème fraiche whipped cream and served with an espresso-piloncillo-chocolate sauce.

Nothing pairs better with Mexican fare than a handcrafted cocktail, sangria, or margarita. Rosa Mexicano’s bebidas feature an array of domestic and Mexican beers; tasty cocktails, including the signature frozen pomegranate margarita; about a dozen new cocktails, such as Flor de Humo, a citrusy concoction of tequila, mezcal, lime juice, St. Germain, agave mix, and orange marmalade; and yes, a tequila flight, served with a shot of sangrita.

No need to pack the Louis trunk, all you’ll need for this trip is salt and lime.

Serving lunch and dinner daily, weekend brunch; take-out and delivery, and in-house and off-site catering service; as well as, weekday happy hour from 4 – 7 p.m. Visit www.rosamexicano.com for more information.
