Riff Raff: Manhattan’s Newest Hot Spot

The “riffraff” of New York have a new place to call their own, a jewel-box of a club off of Park and 26th. Rarely is a space this aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Tapestries from Malaysia span wall to ceiling, small touches of elegance are abound, making this not your ordinary boite de nuit. The king of the riffraff is no other then Michael Stillman, the restaurateur genius behind the likes of Quality Meats, Park Ave Winter, and, most recently, The Hurricane Club.

As I enter riffraff, I am immediately lured in by the exquisite beats mixed by the DJs, Andrew and Andrew, chic in their matching ensembles. Slicked coifs and Frederick’s eyewear, they keep the atmosphere festive as they play a set of consistent popularity. A mini discoball is perched above, spinning along, catching the light, illuminating the floor as I glide along to the music, may it never stop. Sparks fly as a giant flamingo cocktail magically appears, decorated with a plethora of coloured straws, arriving at my table as a present from the party gods. As I scour the room, the crowd is eclectic, stylish and conscious of the objective of the night, loving the moment, and so, may the beat go on and on.
