New York Fashion Week: Improvd

New York Fashion Week has officially begun. There’s a certain buzz around this week. New Yorkers run around frantically (but with smiles on their faces); cup of coffee in one hand and Blackberry in the other, all the while attempting to snag cabs from fellow editors so they make it to the next show (across town) in time. I started my day bright and early at Improvd. Valentino Vettori (pictured with me) and Sam Ben-Avraham are the creators behind this avant-garde line.
The coolest thing about the lineThe line features earthy neutrals with edgy details and prints. Vettori and his designers deconstruct and reinterpret trends. Materials are mixed, washed, over dyed and distressed to bring together a look that is raw and wearable. And wearable it is–there wasn’t an item I am not coveting!
Check out the way the line is presented–like nothing you’ve ever seen. Models were filmed in advance, wearing Fall’s threads and then projected onto life-sized cutouts in the shape of their svelte frames. Only the brains behind Improvd would think of such a clever way to display their wears.
PS, stay tuned for the opening of the Miami Improvd…
