Haute Event: James Cameron, Maggie Grace Attend Global Green USA’s Annual Pre-Oscar Party
by Blair Cassuto

Global Green USA, which raises funds and awareness for fighting climate change, celebrated its 8th annual Pre-Oscar party on Feb. 23, 2011. With more than 1,400 people who attended, this star studded event featured musical performances by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Best Coast, and Portugal The Man. Named “Greener Cities for a Cooler Planet,” this evening promoted its project to start creating green communities to fight against climate change.

Suzy Amis Cameron revealed the winning green dress design as part of her Red Carpet Green Dress Contest, which helped raise money for Muse Elementary School. Global Green USA also featured the new Chevy Volt electric car, which can give you emission-free driving for 25-30 miles, as well as a total driving range of up to 379 miles.

Among the star-studded event, celebrities such as James Cameron, Maggie Grace, Roland Emmerich, Alison Brie, and Dennis Haysbert walked on the green carpet and tried the Carbon City Index Model, which shows the amount of smog in Los Angeles. Both an educational and fun night, the guests enjoyed every minute of it.

For the past several years, Global Green has joined forces with the Hollywood, California community to help raise awareness of the changing climate and what we can do to help change it. In addition, this company has also created affordable green homes and schools, as well as driving green cars to the Oscars. Leading by example, they are the poster child for having a greener thumb.
