Haute Spot: Best Places to Watch the NBA All-Stars Game in San Diego

This weekend starts off the NBA All-Stars Game 2011 in Los Angeles, and as their next-door neighbor, if you’re not on the road to participate in the festivites, then you should definitely be in one of the hottest sports bars in town to watch the line-up! From slam dunk contests, to three-on-three, to all-star celebrity games, you have to check out these events and let the best of the best showcase their talent on-screen. The games begin tonight, with the TMobile Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam and All-Star sports interviews on ESPN.  Saturday follows with the annual Sprite Slam Dunk Contest, which is always incredibly fun to watch.  Sunday is the big event, with the NBA All-Star Game at 7pm ET. All of these events, and many more involving the All-Star Weekend, on ESPN and TN, and we need to represent the West Coast!

As San Diegans, we need to be out there cheering on our incredible West Coast All-Star Roster, including Kobe Bryant, Yao Ming, Tim Duncan and Kevin Durant, among the amazing list.  This is the kind of roster you need to defeat that East Coast Roster, though, of amazing talents like LeBron James, Amar’e Stoudemire, Dwayne Wade and Derrick Rose. This game is a must-see and we’re thinking that San Diego is so close to LA, that we’ll be able to hear the cheers from our beaches!

The best places in town to see these exciting events are definitely the handful of really great sports bars and taverns located all over our city. Seau’s Sports Bar and Restaurant is one the best sports bars, with specials all day Sunday during the All-Star Game.  Phileas Fogg’s has a wall of screens and twenty beers on draft, which means this is the prime spot for viewing the All-Star Games, and McGregor’s Grill and Ale House will be playing the games live in Mission Valley.

Hit up any of these favorite spots to cheer on the West Coast as we take over the All-Star Games, or to quietly smile when the East Coast does something right, if you’re just visiting this end of the country.  Very quietly, of course.
