Insider’s Guide to New York

Pierre Ouaknine

The Stats: Born in Casablanca, Morrocco; Moved to New York City

Best Aspect of New York: “Anything is possible, even for an immigrant!”

Women are very picky about who lays a hand on their hair. But it will be in great hands, literally, by Pierre Ouaknine. Immigrating from Casablanca with his 12 siblings and parents to New York City in the mid-sixties, Pierre never imagined being co-owner of one of the hautest and most enduring salons in all of America. Along with his childhood friend, Michel Obadia, they founded Pierre Michel Salon. Once Pierre was in America looking for employment, he found employment with the salon that would later join forces with Revlon.
