Everyone does the same stuff for Valentine’s Day, right? There’s the fancy dinner at a place you had to kill for a reservation, maybe there’s some dancing and maybe there’s a walk along one of our glorious beaches, and then hopefully there’s some behind-closed-doors action to top off the holiday. These events are nice, and always appreciated, but to mix it up this Valentine’s Day, why don’t you get tickets to the Sweetheart Sail and do something a little different this year? Something different like whisking your loved one away on the open sea on an actual tall ship in the Pacific, thanks to the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

The Sweetheart Sail starts on February 13th with the Californian, the state of California’s official tall ship, an exact replica of an old-fashioned Gold Rush era ship, complete with billowing, pirate-like sails, and a bit of sea voyaging nostalgia. Once aboard, you and your sweetheart will enjoy staffing the helm and hauling a line aboard this traditional rigid tall ship, lunch on deck, and receive a picture from the ship’s on-board photographer. While you sail around for the three-hour adventure history tour, you will hear tales from the Californian crew of whaling adventures, battles in the water, and historic sea life dramas. To top all of this off, at the end of your amazing sea voyage, the day ends with a full-blown cannon salute!

Get your tickets for the Sweetheart Sail and you can be proud that this Valentine’s Day, you showed your love something new and different, out on the water in this wonderful city. The ship is docked at the Maritime Museum of San Diego, and after your Sweetheart Sail is complete, your ticket grants you entrance to the museum and any of the other ships in the dock.
