Haute Fashion: Net-a-Porter’s Mr. Porter Goes Live Today

To the ladies of Haute Living, rejoice. Your man’s sweatpants wearing days are over.
To the fashion-forward men of this site, angle your computer towards London and start paying homage. The new male style destination is upon us.
After months of anticipation, today marks the launch of Mr. Porter.com, the kid brother site to what I proclaim Mecca, Net-a-Porter.com. Since its inception in 2000, Net-a-Porter has revolutionized the manner in which women buy and wear designer clothing, offering global access to the most up-to-date and most avant-garde fashions. The sight is visited by close to 3 million women per month and has become the “premier online luxury fashion retailer.”
Knowing this, it is no surprise that fashion and Net-a-Porter have finally consummated their bond with said love child. The site, similar in layout to its predecessor, offers men’s designer clothing, shoes and accessories, to be purchased online, packaged neatly and shipped straight to your door. And with a “Wardrobe Manager, ”“Style Directory,” and “Journal,” the site is primed to target not only the world’s already impeccably dressed men but also those slightly less astute fashionistos.
The launch of Mr. Porter is not just a male affair however. Though we women can’t shop it, I have no doubt many a moment in our day will be lost gawking over the site’s gaggle of gorgeous male models. And most importantly, with a designer list the likes of Burberry, YSL and Lanvin, we too will have to lay out our Prorsum Prayer Rugs and express gratitude to founder Natalie Massenet for the soon-to-be influx of better dressed men in our midst.
The call to prayer can be answered at www.mrporter.com.
