Haute Event: Mayor Villaraigosa and Delta Celebrate L.A.’s Music Industry with Pre-Grammy Event
by Elizabeth Samson

Some of the biggest names in music gathered together on Thursday night, Feb. 10, along with Delta Air Lines, the official air line of the Grammy Awards for the fourth year in a row, in an event hosted by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to celebrate L.A.’s music industry at his mansion, The Getty House. The event, which included a talented mix of industry legends, like Chaka Khan and Debbie Allen, as well as some of today’s most popular artists and nominees, such as B.o.B. and Cee-Lo, served as an exciting and enchanting way to kick off the start to the 2011 Grammy weekend.
The partnership between Delta Air Lines and the Grammy Awards was ever present at the celebration, where music industry giants and Grammy nominees alike donned Delta Air Lines pilots’ hats while lounging in Delta’s plush first class seats that were set up around the Getty House. Guests like Toni Braxton, Jewel, John Legend, and Quinton Aaron were surrounded by pictures of major cities that were taken from high above the clouds to provide them with the ambiance of a glamorous but authentic Delta flying experience. The event succeeded in bringing a new meaning to the ultimate form of in-flight entertainment.
Delta Air Lines has been collaborating with the Grammy awards show since 2008, and has taken to playing all Grammy-nominated songs on one of their in-flight entertainment channels throughout the month of February, while also planning to tweet live from the event on Sunday, Feb. 13.
