Haute Dining: Central Beer Garden and Sushi Central Lounge Opening in Coconut Grove
by Lindsay Theisen

With the opening of the Central Beer Garden and Sushi Central Lounge, March 2011 will mark a brand new era for Coconut Grove. The two separate and unique venues will serve to further the renaissance that has already been taking place in “The Grove” and which has also included the revival of popular events such as the Coconut Grove Bed Races and the opening of the Paragon Theatre. Even one of the Miami Heat’s big three Chris Bosh was recently quoted in the Miami Herald about his fondness of the Grove, piquing the interest of many Miamians about this tiny neighborhood that “has attracted tycoons, artists, writers, and musicians galore, and—truth be told—more than its share of kooks, eccentrics, and free spirits.”

Located on the fourth floor of Coco walk, Central Beer Garden will be offering an atmosphere that is marked by the use of earth tones that give off an old Europe feel while high-tech flat screens, elaborate lighting and a state-of-the-art sound system keep the experience contemporary and vibrant. From the bench seating at the luxe oak tables diners will also enjoy taking in the 60 plus international beers, hearty fare and live entertainment.

Just a flight of stairs below is where the Sushi Central Lounge will be featuring a menu infused with Latin flavors (masterminded by a celebrity sushi Chef in New York City) and a tequila bar with exotic and innovative cocktails. Denizens of Miami’s famed nightlife with also revel in the trendy music pumping through the sound system and marvel in the atmosphere that was “conceptualized to stimulate the senses, sounds and tastes make for an ambiance like no other in the Grove.”

Operated by the same restaurant group, the duality of the two restaurants is aptly described as follows: “Central Beer Garden is created for a casual, bohemian experience while Sushi Central Lounge will be a dynamic sophisticated lounge for those wanting a palate-pleasing experience or some delicious signature cocktalis without having to go very far.”
