Restaurateur Steve Haas, the former co-owner of Soyka Restaurant and one of the creators of Miami Spice, has teamed up with acclaimed chef Tom Azar, former chef de cuisine for the legendary Emeril’s restaurant at the Loews Hotel Miami Beach, to create a new concept restaurant in Miami. This dynamic duo has joined forces to create City Hall, The Restaurant, a new brasserie-style eatery located on Biscayne Boulevard, just five blocks north of the Adrienne Arsht Center.
Scheduled to open in early 2011, this two-story, 6,000-square foot restaurant will cater to the burgeoning Downtown Miami social scene. Its chic ambiance includes floor-to-ceiling windows and dark walnut and black varnished wood tables, leather banquets, featuring original art and Art Deco accents throughout. The restaurant will also feature a full bar with creative cocktails, wines by the glass and imported beers. The restaurant will offer private dining facilities in addition to late-night dining to accommodate the nearby theatergoers.
“Our goal is to create a restaurant for Miami’s diverse communities to gather,” Haas said. “We want to offer people a comfortable, cosmopolitan place to meet with friends for dinner or even step out for lunch during the workday and enjoy a great meal.”
The menu will include Chef Azar’s comfort food but with a heightened emphasis on sophistication. The menu will include a little something for everyone with items such as the fresh sesame seared salmon served with green onion jasmine rice, shiitake mushrooms and soy-braised baby bok choy with a miso glaze; or a Latin-inspired seared scallops from Maine with a jalapeño emulsion, pico de gallo and a black bean and sweet corn salsa; these delicacies will be side-by-side to the country-style meatloaf served with chorizo and maple mac ‘n’ cheese, and a crispy fried chicken, along with sandwiches, salads, pizzas and more.
