Art Basel is always a whirlwind of top-notch gallery openings, events, star-studded parties and the like. Fashion brands partner with artists, socialites, and celebs to blur the lines between art and fashion; design and technology; music and the like. And while every night ends in a toss up, leaving attendees unsure as to which happening they enjoyed most, the week always culminates with a dreamy Saturday night at Casa de Sueños, the phenomenal compound which is home to Market America’s Loren and JR Ridinger, for the annual Vogue fashion event.

In past years the evening has showcased fashions by such major brands as Alberta Ferretti and Versace, but this year the runway belonged to Yves Saint Laurent. Beyond the strict list and flash-lit step and repeat, guests took the journey, through court yards and around fountains (guided by impeccably Saint Laurent-clad male models) to the expansive tent, under which they mingled, champagne in hand, with a stellar cross section of social types, industry insiders and celebrities.

When the time was right, guests took their seats around the pool’s floating YSL logo, to take in Stefano Pilati’s latest 2011 Resort collection. A collection that has garnered much attention since it was first shown within the confines of NYC’s French consulate for its light hearted approach to reincarnating Yves Saint Laurent house classics. Models pranced out of the pool house, fresh faced and evoking feelings of a luxurious retreat, in the way Resort collections hope to. Melon and lilac bloomer shorts paired with typical YSL smoking jackets where topped with turbans and butterfly printed frocks and pantsuits followed suit.

If anyone was able to peel their eyes off the presentation, which seemed all the more beautiful with the star studded sky and bay as a backdrop, it was only to scan the front row; which was also covered with stars. Christian Louboutin, Kelly Roland, Emilio Estefan, Gerard Butler, Serena Williams, Alejandro Sanz, Russell Simmons, and Daisy Fuentes are only a few of those who came out to take in the show and celebrate their dear friend and the evenings host, Vogue 100 honoree, Loren Ridinger.

In the end, the masses made their way back through the maze to the valet, but the first lady of the house kept the party going for a select few, within the confines of her and JR’s personal yacht, the floating wonderland, Utopia III.
