What Made Him Haute: This Carnival Corp. chairman and CEO took control of the Miami Heat in 1995 and guided the franchise to its first NBA championship in 2006.

What Makes Him Haute: It’s no surprise that with the recession the last couple of years vacations and travel were one of the first things to be cut from the list of American families’ expenditures. The cruise industry suffered greatly from the economic hardships of our country, but things are starting to look up. The news that the Carnival Corp. ordered a handful of new ships this year was the first sign of things returning to normal in the industry. Arison said the company had no plans to order any more ships anytime soon, but this was the first order in several years, which is a definite improvement.
