Haute Yachts: Ferretti Yachts Developing a 72-Footer

You’ll have to wait until next spring to see the first model, but Ferretti Yachts is adding another large yacht to its lineup of sleek cruisers. The computer-generated photo here gives you a good idea of what the Ferretti 720 Project will look like.
If you’re familiar with other offerings from the famed Italian builder, then you’ll no doubt recognize the large picture window in the hull. That feature debuted on the Ferretti 800, specifically in the master stateroom, and clearly was received well enough by buyers that Ferretti decided to incorporate it on more models. Like the 800, the 720 Project also positions the window in the master, which further includes a low-height settee directly below it. This way, you can enjoy a virtual front-row seat of any anchorage you pull into, yet you can also enjoy the view from the bed without the vistas being partially blocked.
Because the 720 Project measures nearly 72 feet long and nearly 20 feet in beam, the rest of the yacht’s spaces should be equally welcoming. You can treat friends and family to two twin-bedded cabins toward the bow and a VIP cabin fully forward. All staterooms feature en suite heads with shower stalls. On the main deck, the saloon and dining area are open to one another and make the most of the full beam. In an interesting twist, Studio Zuccon International Project, which created the interior layout and styled the profile, designed an optional sliding glass partition forward in the saloon, to separate it from the galley and main helm.
Large windows to both sides will bring the outdoors in and highlight the unusual choices for decorative materials: slightly greyed oak (almost weathered-looking) for furnishings, pale-stained oak for flooring, and brown-grey lacquer for wall panels and some furniture trim. The effect is somewhat like a beach club.
Outside, the flying bridge is fully open for indulging in warm-weather cruising, though a hardtop is available on request. Down on the main deck, the teak-laid cockpit provides seating or alfresco dining for eight to 10 people. Either location will be ideal for enjoying the anticipated 31-knot top speed and 28-knot cruise speed.
