Haute Style: New York Fashion Week with DVF, Victoria Beckham, Carolina Herrera, Monique Lhuillier, Donna Karan

Haute Style is on the scene at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, reporting to you the latest fashion trends as they happen, so be sure to check back for all the latest news!

Diane Von Furstenberg

Daywear from Diane von Furstenberg is always a must-have for one’s spring wardrobe, particularly by way of her whimsical prints and mandatory wrap dresses. This year’s show notes referenced the “Goddess,” who in their vision was an empowered, intellectual beauty, marching down the catwalk in clean, crisp sportswear. From her lightweight silk separates — shorts, shirts and jackets — to her mix of modern dresses, tailored fluidity was a stand out for the season.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria has steadily improved with each season, honing her design skills, as is evident with her bevy of celebrity followers, clamoring to wear her structured and sexy dresses. Her signature fitted silhouette seemed to ease under the girlish influences of ’60s sultriness, where everything felt fresh, feminine and flirty from her lacquered jacquard dresses to her short, full skirts.

Carolina Herrera

Noting a distinct Asian influence, specifically Korean, Herrera’s latest beautiful and classic collection was accented by bird and floral prints, knotted belts and intricate folds. Eastern-influenced colors from crimson and magenta to emerald green glided down the runway on her stunning gown set off among her signature crisp white blouses and pencil skirts. Her taste and elegance continue to rein supreme at New York Fashion Week.

Monique Lhuillier

Monique Lhuillier unveiled her usual stunning special occasion dresses that we love her for. Pretty and glamorous, her evening collection showed slender and draped silk sheaths, as well as gowns of appliqué chiffons. The gradual shift between neutral metallics, white lace and cherry blossom printed silk organza left us yearning for the romance and delicateness of the spring.

Donna Karan

As her program announced it was “embracing nature” this season, Donna Karan produced a calm collection in a muted palette that indeed seemed reminiscent of the elements. Models emerged in soft tonal silhouettes that were long and lean, full of dreamy translucent dresses and bias-cut skirts that could inspire romantic desert dreams in anyone.
