Haute Event: Catherine Malandrino Spring/Summer 2011 Presentation

Catherine Malandrino must have been thanking her lucky stars that the rain subsided just long enough for her to debut her Spring/Summer 2011 collection at the Paul Milstein Pool and Terrace at Lincoln Center. Guests were surprised that the presentation took place outside. Models posed on the blocks surrounding the pool in a simple yet aesthetically alluring display of Malandrino couture.

Creativity prevails next season for this legendary French designer, who is known for her sophisticated and timeless, yet often daring designs. For Malandrino, who’s fashion motto is “Imagine…,” her dreams become her reality.

“Safari chic” may be how one would describe the collection of looks. Wide brimmed straw hats were a perfect accent to the fashions with draping fabrics that created billowing, yet somehow sexy, silhouettes. Neutral shades of khaki, whites and brown, were present but also mixed in with beautifully planned patterns in alluring azure and captivating coral. The intricate details for some of the pieces is mind-boggling, down to even the most minute components of each look.
