Plate By Plate Gathers LA’s Best Chefs

plate by plate

‘Tis the season for food fests, apparently.  There are several interesting ones coming up in LA in the next few weeks, and while I can’t endorse every one, the 8th annual Plate by Plate event happening this Saturday, August 14, is one I definitely can.

Held in the California Science Center’s Wallis Annenberg building, this year’s Plate by Plate includes the participation of many of LA’s best restaurants, including Bistro LQ, Craft LA, The Boulevard at Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Nobu West Hollywood, Mo-Chica, La Cahcette Bistro, Thompson Beverly Hills, Café Pinot, Maison Akira, Roy’s, The Foundry, Fraiche, Jitlada, Jiraffe, Jar, Charlie Palmer South Coast Plaza, and Susina Bakery. In all, a total of 30 restaurants will have stations (with paired wines & spirits).

Speaking from personal experience, these kind of events not only give you a chance to sample the cooking of many great restaurants in one night (typically, they offer bites of their signature dishes). For true foodies, an event like this also provides uncommon access to meet and interact with some of our most well-regarded chefs. Expected to attend this event are Eric Greenspan, Laurent Quenioux, Perfecto Rocher, Ricardo Zarate, Jean-Francois Meteigner, and Susanne Tracht.

This year, the entire event—which is 100% Volunteer staffed—benefits the Health Justice Network, whose stated goal to spread awareness of the health needs and health disparities impacting the Asian Pacific Islander communities of LA and Orange Counties. Funds raised will help over 50 of the non-profit organizations in the HJN network.

Of course, there will also be a silent auction, and an earlybird VIP reception beginning at 6 PM. All ticket costs over $75.00 are tax deductible.

California Science Center’s Wallis Annenberg Building is located at 700 State Drive in Exposition Park
