Haute Event: August Moon

Live Art at 'August Moon'

It was an evening set under the stars at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel’s new pool and outdoor addition, The Edge. The fete was hosted by The Contemporary Museum benefiting art education programs for children of Hawaii. A number of patrons came out to support the beloved high on the hilltop museum’s cause and absolutely enjoyed up close and personal encounters with featured artists along with great food, wine, and entertainment.

Assorted wines from Wine Merchants Hawaii

Guests were greeted with a wine glass upon entry, tasting featured wines throughout the festivities from Bouchaine Winery, Zaca Mesa, Husic Vineyards, Punk Dog Wines, and The Other Guys all supplied by Wine Merchants of Hawaii. Complementing the Viogner and rose were small bites by Azure, Beachhouse restaurant, Kai Market, Kauai Grill, and King Foods, which most guests enjoyed a la single ticket while a select bunch opted for $12,00 a pop VIP cabana seating boasting a private butler, bottle of Champagne and gift bags.

The bourgeoisie was kept amused by modern dance performances choreographed by avant-garde social darling Cyrina Hadad and music by local artist Kamaka Fernandez. Other evening highlights included Drawn Out in which featured artists such as Jamie Allen, Chuck Davis, and May Izumi completed on-the-spot works of art for immediate sale. The Blue Hawaii Surf Paddleboard Auction was also a hit with a $2,500 tricked out paddle board up for dibs.

Individuals who made a $25 donation to The Contemporary Museum were automatically entered into a drawing for an opportunity to stay at one of eight fabulous properties: Sheraton Waikiki Resort, Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas, Sheraton Kauai Resort, Moana Surfrider, Westin Maui Resort and Spa, Royal Hawaiian, Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas, and Sheraton San Diego Hotel. For a donation of $100, five entries were given.

The night was a sure success both in its cause and all around fun factor!
