Transformers 3: Where to Catch a Shia Sighting

As most anyone living or playing in downtown may have noticed, filming of Transformers 3 began this weekend leaving scrap metal, shrouds of buildings and giant robotic concoctions in it’s wake. With helicopters and parachutists circling the Willis/Sears Tower, Daley Center plaza and the main battle taking place between the Tribune Tower and the Michigan Avenue bridge, cast and crew have already been spotted around the city. Here are your best bets of where you may catch a Shia sighting or one of the other action stars (though we know you’re still mourning the loss of Meghan Fox).

Director Michael Bay and and Tyrese Gibson have already been spotted at Japonais for sushi and Cuvee late into the evening.

Rockit

In the center of the action, Shia and Billy Dec are already party pals, so it’s a safe bet he’ll stop by for a Rockit lemonade and truffle fries at some point.

Hotel 71
Filming at the posh hotel is scheduled for July 19-21. To support the hype, Hotel 71 has added a “Transformers” package, which includes daily filming updates and complimentary viewings of the first two films. The hotel’s restaurant even added a “Transformartini” and “Optimus Prime Burger”to the menu.

Bella Bacino’s

Right in the middle of the set, the mom and pop Italian spot has supposedly been warned by production staff that their patio furniture may become a casualty of battle. Optimus Prime is certainly a different type of table decoration.

Other star sightings:

The gorgeous Josh Duhamel and rocker wife, Fergie, had dinner at Hub 51 on Tuesday. They enjoyed a meal at Cibo Matto and hung at Roof for drinks last Thursday (both at the Wit Hotel).

This past independence weekend was definitely one for the books in South Beach. We still had our share of sun, beaches, back yard feasts and fireworks but, what made it different was how the premier of “Transformers; Dark Of The Moon” took over South Beach in true Hollywood style.
