Hautels: The Haute 5 Hotels in New York City

A place to rest in luxury and comfort while visiting the city. Here’s five haute picks.

The Crosby Street Hotel

Right in the heart of Soho, Crosby Street Hotel is ultra-chic, elegant, quirky and cosy. Make sure to book the top-floor headline suites and enjoy uninterrupted, 360-degree skyline views. Perks include inspiring art work, a leafy courtyard garden, ground-floor bar and restaurant, and well-appointed gym. Be sure to enjoy afternoon tea daily and dinner and a movie at the Sunday night film club.

The Crosby Street Hotel is located at 79 Crosby Street New York, NY 212.226.6400

Mandarin Oriental

Not only do I love the spa at the Mandarin Oriental or the many events I attend here at the Lotus Room, it’s an amazing hotel. Located right near Central Park (meaning some serious rooms with a view), perks include a 75 foot lap pool, a premium fitness center, and world class attentive service. If you are into yoga a personal instructor will come to your room for a one-on-one stretch session. If you are into running, a personal trainer will take you through a guided tour in the park. Book the presidential suite for the best bathroom experience you may ever have.

Mandarin Oriental is located at 80 Columbus Avenue New York, NY 866.801.8880

Jumeirah Essex House

After a $90 Million refurbishing plan, the Jumeriah Essex House is a gem of a place to stay while you are in the city. Conveniently located on Central Park South, make sure to ask for a room with a view. It first opened its doors in 1931 and has hosted countless celebrities and power players for more than 75 years. And you don’t have to leave Fido at home. The pet program is fantastic. Luxurious five-star canine amenities from doggie designer to the stars Amy Kizer, owner of Wagwear boutique, will keep your pooch happy.

The Jumeriah Essex House is located 160 Central Park South, New York, NY 212.315.1839

The Pierre Hotel

Enjoy a stay at this renowned Fifth Avenue location with an emphasis on quality, elegance and luxury. Staff outnumbers guests by a ratio of three to one, so you can expect premiere service and attention to detail. Start with breakfast at Le Caprice, with the power players of the city like Donald Trump and Melania, and Anna Wintour. Continue the day with a stroll through Central Park and the best shopping in New York City on Madison Avenue and end with a nightcap at the hotel’s bar/lounge Two E.

The Pierre Hotel is located at  2 East 61st Street New York, NY  212.838.8000

The National Arts Club

The National Arts Club was founded in 1893 by Charles de Kay, who was the literary and art critic for The New York Times for 18 Years. It’s an institutional classic and what you may not know is you can stay there at the Tilden Mansion; however, you have to be a member or have connections. A serene atmosphere of history and art. Perks include Gramercy Park, the legendary dining room, and the number of celebrities that are members and frequent the institution, including Uma Thurman, Martin Scorsese and more.

The National Arts Club is located at 15 Gramercy Park South New York, NY 212.674.8824
