Olivier Theyskens to Design Capsule Collection for Theory
Since his departure from Nina Ricci many have pondered the fate of Olivier Theyskens. The Belgium-born designer helmed the French design house from 2006 through 2009, when he showed his final collection for the label. Since then rumors concerning his next move in the fashion industry have run rampant…until now. It was announced last week that Theyskens would design a capsule collection for Theory.
Aptly called Theyskens Theory, the line will debut this fall. And while many industry insiders are questioning this move, others think it’s a bold choice. The American sportswear company is best known for simple and chic separates—perfect for those of us needing office appropriate attire. If anything, Theyskens was known for this grand flair at Nina Ricci and Rochas before that.
Either way this is the perfect chance for us to get our hands on an original Theyskens design—especially one fit for everyday wear and tear. Who knows, maybe this is Theory president Andrew Rosen’s way of grooming Theyskens for his own eponymous label under the Theory umbrella. Now that would be amazing.
