Makes Scents: Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Montauk
Memorial Day Weekend kicked off the Hamptons summer season, and while we all look forward to adventures to our local vacation haute spots we are inspired by the rich scents, crisp air, and many memories to come. Certainly Andy Warhol had his share of memories from wild nights spent at Studio 54 where he schmoozed with socialites and celebrities like Jackie O, John Lennon, and Edie Sedgwick. And we all remember him from these rowdy times. But what many of us do not remember is the time he spent in Montauk, the quaint town at the tip of Long Island.
Montauk was Warhol’s retreat from the hustle and bustle of New York City, and when he purchased a secluded twenty-acre estate in 1971 in this seaside town the fate—and reputation—of Montauk was in his hands.
In celebration and honor of Warhol’s time spent in Montauk, Bond No. 9 presents Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Montauk, the fifth in the series of Warhol-inspired emulsions from the famed perfumer. Blended for men and women, this richly evocative scent combines hyacinth, lily of the valley, and honeysuckle, and opens up to aromas like silver maple, red oak, driftwood, and amber. The perfect combination of country escape and metropolitan flair.
Bond No. 9 turned to Warhol’s iconic Sunsets series of screen prints to outfit the bottle. Out of 632 possible scenes, they chose four prints, which double up on the front and back of two separate bottles. This haute new scent went on sale June 1, and can be yours for $200 for the 100ml bottle, and $145 for the 50ml bottle.
Bond No. 9 pays homage to the late and great master of pop art, Andy Warhol, through a series of fragrances themed and named after him. The upscale perfumery is preparing to release the sixth fragrance in the series, one that is perhaps the most unique and distinctive yet.
