Audemars Piguet Auctions Tony Nominees Wall Clocks for Charity
Leading timepiece manufacturer Audemars Piguet sponsored the 64th Annual Tony Awards Telecast Red Carpet at Radio City Music Hall in New York City last Sunday night. As part of the evening, the company started a philanthropy, The Time to Give Foundation, to benefit Broadway Cares/Equite Fights AIDS. Since its inception last month at a celebrity charity watch auction, The Time to Give Foundation has raised $1.3 million.
The Tony Awards made their debut at a dinner at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in 1947. The event was named after actress, director and producer, and according the website, the dynamic wartime leader of the American Theatre Wing, Antoinette Perry who passed away that year. The Tony’s have indeed endured an arduous journey, originally not having any official rewards. Today, the momentous occasion features an exciting evening of dancing, music, and all sorts of entertainment, suites, ties, and dresses that will have you in awe.
Audemars Piguet has been perpetually noted for their generosity and their affinity for giving back. They make it easy for you to count the hands with events like the Tony Awards Wall Clock Auction where eight solid aluminum wall clocks were displayed on the red carpet. The clocks were designed by nominees for Best Musical and Best Musical Revival, including Finian’s Rainbow, La Cage Aux Folles, A Little Night Music, Ragtime, American Idiot, FELA!, Memphis and Million Dollar Quartet.
You can see the entire wall clock collection at Audemars Piguet’s New York City flagship boutique at 65 E. 57th St. through June 24. You can bid on the wall clocks at www.charitybuzz.com/auctions/audemarspiguetclocks/catalog_items through June 24.
